Samsung Galaxy S8 Display Adhesive Replacement
This guide assumes you have a Galaxy S8 and requires the Galaxy S8 screen replacement guide for completion.
Step 1 | Display Adhesive
Leaving glue or glass remnants on the phone's frame can damage the new display.
- Clean the adhesion surface with high concentration isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) to remove all traces of adhesive and debris.
- Wipe clean with a lint-free cloth to ensure a proper bond for the new display.
Study the pre-cut adhesive strips to visualize their placement on the phone's frame.
- Peel off the clear plastic backing from each strip, exposing one side of adhesive.
Step 2
Align an edge of the adhesive with the corresponding edge of the phone frame.
- Verify that the adhesive cutouts match the phone's openings.
- Place the adhesive down lightly on the frame, ensuring proper alignment.
- Once aligned, press the adhesive onto the frame using your fingers.
If misaligned, carefully peel the adhesive back up to reposition.
Step 3
Peel one of the end adhesive strips from the clear plastic backing.
- Hold the strip by the two green end tabs and line the adhesive with the phone frame.
- Lay the adhesive down lightly on the phone, ensuring all cutouts are aligned.
- Press the adhesive into place using your fingers.
- Repeat for the remaining adhesive strip.
Ensure strips are applied to their specific end only, as they are not interchangeable.
Step 4
Continue reassembling your device until you're ready to attach the screen.
- Test the screen's functionality before attaching it.
- Pull off the green plastic liner from all adhesive strips.
- Align and place the phone screen on top of the exposed adhesive.
- Squeeze around the perimeter to secure the adhesive using your fingers.
Apply a heavy weight, such as books, on top for an hour to aid bonding.
