Note: This guide only replaces the display assembly while keeping the original frame intact. Some screens come pre-installed in a new frame; follow a different procedure for those or use this guide to transplant the phone's internals and install a new battery.
Do not attempt to separate the display from the frame unless you intend to replace the display.
Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.
Using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may cause heat damage to the OLED display and internal battery; exercise caution when applying heat.
Risk of damage to internal components: avoid cutting too close to the fingerprint sensor flex cable.
If the back cover is cracked, ensure a secure suction cup seal by applying strong tape or superglue.
Risk of rear glass breakage if excessive force or metal tools are used.
Slide your opening pick along the left edge of the phone to slice through the adhesive securing the back cover.
Leaving the pick in place may be helpful to prevent re-adhesion of the separated glue.
Continue slicing along the bottom edge of the phone.
It may help to leave one opening pick in place and grab another for the next step.
Careful not to damage the flex cable leading to the fingerprint sensor.
Use the diagram in step 2 for guidance to ensure safe removal.
Do not attempt to fully remove the back cover at this time.
Use the point of a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable.
Rushing the reassembly process can damage the fingerprint sensor cable.
Do not force the connector into place or you may strain the cable.
Remove the back cover.
Do not power on your device until after testing it following reassembly.

Remove the eleven 3.7 mm Phillips screws from the wireless charging coil + antenna assembly.
Locate the wireless charging coil + antenna assembly and its securing plastic clips.
Remove the wireless charging coil + antenna assembly.
Disconnect the battery connector with a spudger, prying it straight up from its socket.
Optional: Press the phone's back cover into place temporarily to protect the motherboard and battery from accidental damage.
Apply heat to the bottom edge of the display using a heat gun or hair dryer.
Do not apply excessive heat, as this can damage the display or other components.
Press a suction cup into place near the bottom edge of the display if possible.
Use strong tape to lift the display instead, or apply superglue to secure the suction cup in place and allow it to cure before proceeding.
Hold the suction cup firmly and pull up on it.
Optional: Add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to the gap for easier adhesive removal in subsequent steps, but be cautious as excessive liquid can cause damage.
Position your opening pick at the bottom of the screen and gently slide it across, working to release the adhesive holding it in place.
Leave the first pick in place.
Reheat the iOpener and apply direct heat to the left edge of the display for a minimum of 2 minutes.
Insert opening pick and pry adhesive on left side of display.
Apply heat to the iPad screen's right side with a heat source for at least 2 minutes.
Insert the opening pick along the right edge of the display.
Apply heat to the top edge of the screen for at least 2 minutes.
Aggressive prying may damage front-facing sensors and speaker assembly.
Use picks to separate adhesive beneath display areas.
Separate the left edge of the display completely from the frame.
Pass the flex cable through the display's frame hole.
Remove the display.
