Samsung Galaxy S7 Microphone Replacement

The Galaxy S7 microphone issue can be solved without needing to remove the LCD display.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.

  • Have replacement adhesive ready before proceeding, or take care to avoid liquid exposure during reassembly if not replacing adhesive.
  • Apply a heated iOpener to a long edge of the phone for about two minutes.
  • Reheat and reapply as needed until phone is warm enough, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution: be careful not to overheat the OLED display and internal battery.

Step 2

Apply suction cup near heated edge of phone, avoiding curved section.

  • Heat until back panel feels warm to touch before applying suction cup.

Suction may not stick if back cover is cracked; use strong tape or superglue for better adhesion.

  • Lift phone with suction cup and insert opening pick under rear glass.

Use caution: excessive force can cause rear glass to break, especially when pushing up on curved section.

  • If necessary, reapply heat to soften adhesive for better access.
  • Optionally, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to weaken adhesive further.

Slide a pick down the side of the phone, carefully separating adhesive.

Go slowly to avoid losing contact with the seam.

  • If sliding becomes difficult, reheat and reapply the iOpener.
  • Leave the pick in place while grabbing a second pick for the next step.

Ensure phone is powered on and test functionality after repair.

  • Clean midframe surface with isopropyl alcohol; avoid contact with wireless charging coil as this will damage its coating.
  • Reinstall back cover using custom-cut adhesive strip, or remove old adhesive to ensure a flush fit and then apply glue for securement.

Note that glued-only installation may compromise waterproofing.
