Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Rear Glass Replacement

The curved edge and strong adhesive make the initial opening process extremely difficult.

  • Apply gentle heat to the back panel using a hair dryer for several minutes.
  • Use an iSclack or similar tool to pry the glass away from the phone frame.
  • Repeat the heat and pull cycle until the adhesive loosens, allowing easy removal of the glass.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals; ensure replacement adhesive is ready before proceeding, or risk liquid exposure.

  • Prepare an iOpener by heating it for about two minutes on a long edge of the phone.
  • Reheat and reapply the iOpener as needed until the phone is warm enough.
  • When using alternative heat sources like a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, be cautious not to overheat; OLED display and internal battery are susceptible to damage.

Step 2

Avoid applying suction cup directly on curved edge, as it won't adhere well.

  • Warm the back panel until it's warm to the touch.
  • Position a suction cup near the heated edge, avoiding the curved part of the glass.

If the phone's back cover is cracked or damaged, use strong tape or superglue to secure suction cup in place and allow it to cure.

  • Lift on the suction cup and carefully insert an opening pick under the rear glass.
  • Due to curved glass, push up instead of inserting parallel to phone's plane.

If initial attempt is unsuccessful, reapply heat to soften adhesive and try again. Be prepared for repeated heating, as adhesive cools quickly.

Step 3

Reheat the iOpener and reapply it to the glass.

  • Continue to gently pry the glass with the pick while waiting for the iOpener to take effect.

Slide opening pick along phone's side, separating adhesive.

Go slowly; avoid losing tip in seam.

  • If sliding becomes difficult, reheat and reapply iOpener.
  • Leave pick in place and grab second pick for next step.

Remove remaining adhesive from phone chassis using tweezers.

Clean adhesion areas with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth.

  • Peel adhesive backing off new rear glass.
  • Lining up one edge, press firmly onto phone chassis.

Before sealing, turn on phone and test repair.

  • If reinstalling old back cover or using non-adhesive cover: follow guide.
  • Optionally, remove large adhesive chunks before installation.
  • Apply heat and pressure to secure back cover.
