Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Motherboard Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the motherboard in a Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

Step 1 | Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Disassembly

Do not handle your phone with bare hands — it will be extremely hot.

  • Apply a blow dryer to the stuck screen for a short time to loosen the adhesive.

Phone may lose water resistance after repair.

  • Insert a metal spudger between screen and frame to start separating them.
  • Using multiple metal spudgers can aid in removing screen from sealing adhesive on the frame.

Apply a hair dryer to warm the adhesive strip, making it easier to separate.

  • Slide a metal spudger around the phone at least once.
  • Maintain heat on the area being separated during this process.

Grasp the screen firmly and lift it upwards.

Wash your hands thoroughly with hot water and soap after handling this component.

Step 5 | Battery

Remove the screw with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Remove the small plastic cover with tweezers.

Remove the small plastic cover with tweezers.

Remove the screws indicated by the photo using a Phillips head #000 screwdriver.

Disconnect the marked pieces from the motherboard using tweezers.

Remove the middle button with tweezers, including its connection to the motherboard.

Use a metal spudger to pry the mid frame and battery away from the motherboard.

Remove the battery from the midframe using a spudger.

  • Careful not to damage the midframe — risk of cosmetic damage.

  • To replace, follow this guide for installing a new battery and adhesive.

Step 13 | Rear Camera

Disengage the front camera connector using a pair of tweezers.

Ensure the connector unsnaps smoothly, much like a Lego piece.

Step 14 | Motherboard

Remove the Phillips 000 screw covering the proximity sensor using a Phillips 000 screwdriver.

Remove the proximity sensor with tweezers.

  • Set it aside temporarily.

Step 16

Disconnect the front mic and the two marked cables using a pair of tweezers.

Step 17

Use both hands and a metal spudger to carefully lift the motherboard out of the phone.

  • Note: Be gentle, as there is still a connection on the underside of the motherboard.
  • Use the metal spudger to gently remove this connection.
