Opening your phone compromises its waterproof seals; ensure replacement adhesive is ready or avoid liquid exposure.

  • Apply packing tape over shattered glass panels for stability during removal.

Heating the rear panel with an iOpener: apply heat to edges for 2 minutes, repeat as needed.

  • Lay the heated iOpener over the edge of the glass and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  • Reapply heat if necessary; follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Alternative heating methods: use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat the phone and damage internal components (OLED display, battery).

Apply a suction cup near the bottom edge of the hot rear glass.

  • Lift on the suction cup to create a small gap underneath the rear glass.

You can add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol into the gap for optional adhesive weakening.

Slide the pick along the bottom edge of the phone to slice through the adhesive.

  • Leave the pick in place for the next step if necessary.

Use tweezers to remove remaining adhesive from the phone's chassis.

  • Clean the adhesion areas with isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and a lint-free cloth, swiping in one direction only.
  • Peel the backing off of the new rear glass and carefully align one edge against the phone chassis.
  • Firmly press the glass onto the phone.

  • Firmly grasp the edge of the midframe assembly.
  • Lift up on the midframe assembly while pushing down on the battery to separate it from the rest of the phone.
  • Be careful not to snag the midframe assembly on the audio jack or charging port.

Avoid inserting an opening pick between the glass and display to prevent damage.

  • Run an opening pick around the edges of the phone to separate the midframe from the rest of the device.
  • To disengage the midframe from the headphone jack, remove it first, then push the midframe downwards.
  • If needed, heat and apply an iOpener to soften display adhesive for easier separation.
