Note: Some replacement screens come pre-installed in a new frame; ensure you have the correct part to avoid transplanting all internal phone components.
Removing the rear glass destroys its adhesive; reinstall it using a separate guide if necessary.
Do not apply excessive force, as it can harm the SIM card tray.
Remove the SIM card tray.
Clean the microwave thoroughly before proceeding to avoid gunk adhering to the iOpener.
Do not attempt to heat the iOpener above 100 ̊C (212 ̊F) as it may burst.
Never touch a swollen or overheated iOpener.
Avoid touching the iOpener center as it may cause burns.
Using boiling water can cause severe burns — handle with extreme care.
The heated iOpener is now ready for use. To reheat, repeat these steps as needed.
Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.
The adhesive around the edge of the glass may require repeated heating and reheating.
When using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, be cautious not to overheat and damage the OLED display or internal battery.
Apply a suction cup near the bottom edge of the hot rear glass.
Slide the pick along the bottom edge of the phone to slice through the adhesive securing the rear glass.
Leaving the pick inserted can help prevent re-adhesion of the separated glue.
Continue heating and cutting around the remaining edges, leaving a pry tool under each section to prevent the adhesive from reforming.
Insert an opening pick and carefully pry away any remaining adhesive.
Use tweezers to remove remaining adhesive from the phone's chassis.
If reinstalling old rear glass or using adhesive-less rear glass, consult this guide instead.

Remove the top of the midframe first, then push down on it to disengage from the headphone jack.
If necessary, heat the edges of the display with an iOpener and apply to soften the adhesive for easier separation.

Locate the daughterboard ribbon cable connector under the motherboard and carefully use the flat end of a spudger to release it.
Apply tape over cracked display glass to prevent shards.
Insert opening pick in battery-side edge, between frame and display, at upward angle.
Slide a pick down the edge of the display to separate adhesive underneath.
Insert the opening pick at the headphone jack and slide it along the bottom edge of the phone, stopping just past the charging port.
Avoid inserting the opening pick more than 0.25 inches (~6mm) to prevent damage to the home button.
Be cautious with the fragile ribbon cable when inserting the pick.
If you damage the capacitive buttons or ribbon cables, replace the entire daughterboard assembly.
Insert a precision opening pick 0.5 inches (~12mm) under the opposite bottom corner of the display.
The cable is fragile and prone to tearing, so handle with care.
Leave the pick under the display to prevent the button from re-adhering.
Insert an opening pick into the side of the phone away from the battery.
Use a opening pick to gently pry the battery side of the frame away from the display.
If they do not separate easily, use an opening pick to cut any remaining adhesive.
Do not completely remove the display yet — the display cable is still threaded through the frame.
Route the display's flex cable through its hole in the frame.
Failure to remove old adhesive can damage the new display.
Bent frames or leftover glue/glass can cause display damage; replace the frame if necessary.
