  • Follow this guide to replace the midframe assembly in your Samsung Galaxy S6.
  • Remove the components from the old midframe assembly, including the induction coil, power button, volume buttons, camera lens, and speaker.

Always clean the microwave before proceeding to avoid dirty residue sticking to the iOpener.

  • Place the iOpener in the center of the microwave.
  • For carousel microwaves: Ensure the plate spins freely to prevent iOpener overheating and burning.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Never overheat the iOpener above 100°C (212°F), as it may burst.

  • Heat the iOpener in the microwave for 30 seconds, adjusting time according to your model's wattage.
  • The iOpener is ready when it's slightly too hot to touch.

Be cautious not to touch a swollen or overheated iOpener.

  • Throughout the repair, reheat the iOpener for 30 seconds at a time as it cools.
  • A properly heated iOpener will stay warm up to 10 minutes.

Step 5

Step 5 image

When removing the iOpener from the microwave, hold it by one of the two flat ends to avoid the hot center.

  • Hold the iOpener away from your body when handling.
  • Use an oven mitt if you need extra protection against heat.

Step 6 | Alternate iOpener heating method

Fill a pot or pan with enough boiling water to fully submerge an iOpener.

  • Turn off the heat after bringing the water to a boil.
  • Submerge an iOpener in the hot water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Use tongs to carefully remove the heated iOpener from the pan.
  • The iOpener will be extremely hot, handle it by the end tabs only.

  • Dry the iOpener thoroughly with a towel before use.

You can reheat an iOpener by following these steps again.

Step 7 | Rear Glass

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.

  • Have replacement adhesive ready before proceeding, or take care to avoid liquid exposure if reassembling without replacing the adhesive.
  • Apply packing tape over shattered glass to hold it together during removal.

Prolonged exposure to heat can damage the OLED display and internal battery.

  • Lay a heated iOpener over the rear panel for about two minutes to loosen adhesive around the edge of the glass.
  • Reheat and reapply as needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Avoid overheating when using alternative heat sources.

  • Shift the iOpener to heat the remaining panel section for another two minutes.
  • Use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution, as excessive heat can damage internal components.

Apply a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass when it's hot.

  • Lift on the suction cup to create a small gap underneath the rear glass.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.
  • Optionally, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to help weaken the adhesive.

Step 9

Slide a pick along the bottom edge of the phone to separate the adhesive.

  • Leave the pick in place for stability, then grab another one for the next step.
  • Re-heat the rear glass as needed to prevent the glue from cooling and hardening.

Step 10

  • Continue with the heating and cutting process on the remaining three sides.
  • Do not remove the picks as this will cause the adhesive to reseal.

Insert an opening pick and carefully slice through any remaining adhesive.

  • Continue with a gentle prying motion until the rear glass is free.

Step 12

Use extreme caution when handling the new rear glass to avoid damage.

  • Remove any remaining adhesive from the phone's chassis using tweezers.
  • Clean adhesion areas with isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and a lint-free cloth, swiping in one direction only.
  • Peel the adhesive backing off the new rear glass, line up an edge, and press firmly onto the phone's chassis.

Ensure the SIM card tray has been ejected.

  • Firmly grasp the midframe assembly edge.
  • Lift up on the midframe assembly, pushing down on the battery to separate it from the rest of the phone.
  • Avoid snagging the midframe assembly on the audio jack or charging port.
  • Run an opening pick around the edges of the rest of the phone, being careful not to insert the pick between the glass and display.
  • To disengage the headphone jack, remove the top of the midframe, then push down on it.

Midframe separation may require applying an iOpener to the edges of the display to soften the adhesive.

Use both hands to lift the midframe assembly upwards.

Be careful not to damage any surrounding components.
