Any debris on the bottom of the microwave can stick to the iOpener.

Clean the microwave thoroughly before proceeding.

  • Place the iOpener in the center of the microwave.
  • For carousel microwaves, ensure the plate spins freely to prevent overheating and potential burns.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Never touch a swollen iOpener — risk of thermal burn.

  • Heat the iOpener in the microwave for 30 seconds, adjusting time based on your device's wattage.

  • The iOpener is ready when it's just too hot to touch lightly.
  • Reheat as needed throughout the repair: 30 seconds at a time in the microwave.
  • Do not overheat the iOpener; overheating may cause bursting, and temperatures should not exceed 100°C (212°F).

  • Use it while warm for up to 10 minutes; reheat if still too hot in the middle.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Be extremely cautious when removing the iOpener from the microwave as it may still be extremely hot.

  • Hold the iOpener by one of its flat ends to avoid direct contact with the hot center.
  • Wear an oven mitt if necessary for added protection against burns when handling the iOpener.

Step 6 | Alternate iOpener heating method

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals.

  • Prepare replacement adhesive beforehand.
  • If reassembling without new adhesive, exercise caution around liquids.

If glass is shattered, secure the panel with packing tape during removal.

Apply a heated iOpener to the rear panel for 2 minutes, focusing on the edge of the glass.

You may need to reheat and reapply the iOpener multiple times to achieve optimal temperature.

  • Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Using alternative heat sources: be cautious not to overheat, as OLED display & internal battery are susceptible to damage.

A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can be used; apply for 2 minutes per section.
