Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Rear Glass Replacement

Removing the rear glass destroys the adhesive; replacement adhesive is required for reinstallation.

  • Use this guide to replace a damaged rear glass panel or access internal components.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Apply the iOpener to the volume button side of the phone for 2 minutes.

  • Reheat and reapply as needed until the phone is warm enough.
  • Follow the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate — but be careful not to overheat the phone and cause damage to the OLED display or internal battery.

Apply a suction cup near the center of the phone and as close as possible to the edge of the back panel.

  • Lift on the suction cup to create a small gap underneath the rear glass.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Slide a pick along the phone's side to break the adhesive holding the rear panel in place.

Go slowly to prevent the pick from slipping out of alignment.

If cutting becomes difficult, reheat and reapply the iOpener.

Do not install new adhesive if your phone's repair has not been successfully tested.

  • Use tweezers to remove remaining adhesive from back cover and phone chassis.
  • Clean adhesion areas with 90% isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth, swiping in one direction only.

Make sure the phone is turned on and functioning before reinstalling the back cover.

  • Align screw holes on pre-cut adhesive sheet with frame screws.
  • If no adhesive sheet is available, use Tesa 61395 high-bond double-sided tape instead.

Apply strong pressure to phone for several minutes after installing rear cover.

  • Place phone under heavy books or apply steady pressure to help adhesive form a good bond.
  • Alternatively, reinstall back cover without new adhesive by removing excess glue and heating the back cover to secure it in place.
