Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Midframe Replacement

Replacing the rear glass will damage its adhesive and require reapplication.

  • Use this guide for replacing a damaged midframe assembly, including the NFC antenna and wireless charging coil.
  • Removing the rear glass is required; new adhesive must be applied before reinstalling it.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Beware of overheat damage to the OLED display and internal battery.

  • Apply heat, e.g., with an iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun, for about two minutes.

  • Reheat and reapply as needed to achieve adequate warmth.

  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the heating tool to avoid overheating.

Apply a suction cup near the center of the phone, with the edge of the cup closest to the panel's edge.

  • Lift on the suction cup to create a small gap underneath the rear glass.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Insert the pick into a seam on the side of the phone and slide it along gently to separate the adhesive.

  • Move slowly to avoid losing grip in the seam.
  • If cutting becomes difficult, reheat the iOpener and reapply it before continuing.

Step 4

Repeat the heating and cutting process on all three remaining sides of the device.

  • Place a credit card or similar tool underneath each edge to hold the adhesive in place.
  • Continue applying heat and cutting until you have freed all four edges.

Use a opening pick to carefully slice through any remaining adhesive.

  • Remove the rear glass.

Step 6

Step 6 image

Ensure the phone's surface is free of debris and any remaining adhesive.

  • Use tweezers to remove old adhesive from both the back cover and chassis.
  • Clean adhesion areas with high concentration (at least 90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, swiping in one direction only.

Verify phone functionality before proceeding by turning it on and testing the repair.

  • Apply replacement adhesive carefully, ensuring screw holes align with frame screws.
  • If adhesive sheet is not available, use a high-bond double-sided tape (e.g. Tesa 61395).

Allow the adhesive to bond for several minutes under strong, steady pressure, such as under heavy books.

Alternatively, reinstall the back cover without replacing adhesive by removing large chunks of old adhesive and heating the back cover before applying pressure to secure it in place.

Step 7 | Midframe
