This guide replaces only the display on your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, leaving the original frame, logic board, and battery intact.
The display may be destroyed during separation from the frame; proceed only if you intend to replace the display.
Removing the rear glass will destroy its adhesive – this must be replaced before reinstalling or replacing the rear glass.
Insert a SIM card eject tool into the hole in the SIM card slot on the volume button side.
Press carefully to avoid damaging the eject mechanism.
Apply heat to the volume button side of the phone using an iOpener for 2 minutes.
Be cautious of overheating, as the OLED display and internal battery can be damaged.
Apply a suction cup near the center of the phone, as close to the edge of the back panel as possible.
Slide a pick along the side of the phone to loosen the adhesive.
Go slowly to avoid the pick slipping out of place.
Apply an opening pick along the edges of the device, working it into any remaining adhesive.
Do not reinstall the back cover without proper surface preparation.
Ensure your phone is powered on and functioning before installing new adhesive.
Apply strong, steady pressure to the phone for several minutes after installing the rear cover.
Remove all 18 x 3.2 mm screws from the midframe.
Press battery firmly downwards, lifting midframe edges simultaneously.
Disconnect the battery ribbon cable from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the display cable connector straight up out of its socket.
Disconnect the front-facing camera ribbon cable using the flat end of a spudger.
Disconnect the front-facing sensor array ribbon cable using the flat end of a spudger. Prying action is required; lift the cable straight up from its socket.
Insert the point of a spudger between the cable and the socket, then gently pry the cable loose.
Do not lift the motherboard fully out in this step.
Disconnect the daughterboard ribbon cable using the flat end of a spudger.
Be careful not to touch any electrical components.
Apply clear packing tape over cracked display glass to contain shards.
Be cautious not to burn yourself or damage surrounding components when using an iOpener.
While waiting for adhesive to soften, read on to plan where to pry the display.
Extra caution is required near the "recent" and "back" capacitive buttons — risk of damage.
Insert an opening pick into the gap between the display and display frame near the middle of the battery-side edge.
Make sure the pick is on top of the pink shield layer to cut the adhesive properly.
If cutting becomes difficult, reapply heat and reheat the iOpener as needed.
Insert an opening pick no more than 0.25 inches (~6 mm) into the bottom battery-side corner of the display, near the top of the daughterboard.
If either capacitive buttons or ribbon cables break, replace the entire daughterboard assembly, which includes new capacitive buttons.
Apply an iOpener to the display's bottom.
Do not insert the pick too far, as it may damage the home button.
Slide the pick along the bottom edge, separating the adhesive. Stop before reaching the "back" button ribbon cable.
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the display cable side of the display.
Insert the pick as far as possible while maintaining a firm grip.
If cutting becomes difficult, reheat the iOpener and reapply it before continuing.
Leave the pick in place after cutting the adhesive to prevent re-adhesion of the display to the frame.
Insert a pick approximately 0.25 inches (~6 mm) into the bottom, display cable side corner of the display, near the top of the daughterboard.
Insert a precision opening pick 0.25 inches (~6 mm) into the gap at the top edge.
Risk of damage to front-facing camera or earpiece speaker if inserted too far.
Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the display for 1 minute.
If the pick is difficult to insert or the cable begins to stretch, apply additional heat.
Insert a pick between the "back" capacitive button and the display.
Insert an opening pick between the display and display frame on the battery side.
Do not remove the display yet, as the display cable is still threaded through the display frame.
Slowly lift the display frame away from the display.
Remove old adhesive from frame thoroughly to avoid damage or improper display mounting.
Inspect frame for damage and adhesive remnants; replace if necessary to ensure proper display mounting.
