Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Battery Replacement

Discharge battery below 25% and avoid accidental puncture risk.

  • Lithium-ion battery may catch fire/explosion if damaged.
  • Check for swollen batteries; take necessary precautions, or seek professional help.
  • No heating allowed; use isopropyl alcohol (90+%) to weaken adhesive if needed.
  • Wear eye protection when handling swollen batteries;
  • Rear glass removal destroys adhesive; replacement required before reinstallation.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Apply an iOpener to the volume button side of the phone for about two minutes.

  • You may need to reapply the iOpener several times until the phone is warm enough.
  • Follow the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be careful not to overheat the phone.
  • OLED display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Apply a suction cup near the center of the phone and as close as possible to the back panel's edge.

Step 6

Ensure phone power is on before testing repair.

  • Remove remaining adhesive from back cover and phone's chassis using tweezers.
  • Clean adhesion areas with at least 90% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth, swiping in one direction only.
  • Replace adhesive with pre-cut sheet matching back cover contours. Verify screw holes align before application.
  • If no adhesive sheet available, use high-bond double-sided tape (e.g., Tesa 61395).

Apply strong, steady pressure for several minutes to form a good bond. This can be done by placing phone under a stack of heavy books.

Step 7 | Midframe

Careful: do not damage the soft-shell lithium-ion battery — risk of leakage, fire, or explosion.

  • Insert an opening pick between the display frame and the battery.
  • Moving the pick back and forth as needed, work it into the gap between the frame and battery.
  • Slice under the battery with the pick while keeping a firm grip.
  • Slide the pick down the side of the battery to break up the adhesive.

Twist the opening pick to dislodge the battery from the display frame.

Remove the old battery carefully, as remaining adhesive can cause damage.

  • Inspect the phone's glued areas and remove any leftover adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
  • Apply new adhesive around the perimeter of the battery compartment, avoiding the rectangular cutout in the center.

Press the new battery firmly into place for 5-10 seconds to secure it properly.
