How To Tear Down Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

Tear Down Procedure for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Step 1 | Remove the SIM card tray.

Power down the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

  • Remove the SIM card tray.

Step 2 | Remove the back cover.

  • Avoid applying excessive heat as it may damage components.

  • Heat up the device to soften the adhesive.
  • Pull up a gap to insert the case opening tool.
  • Insert a poker card and use it, along with the case opening tool, to separate the back cover by running them around the edges.

Step 3 | Release the rear housing.

Remove the 18 screws holding the rear housing in place.

  • Pull upwards on the rear housing to release it from the LCD assembly and surrounding frame.

Step 4 | Release the motherboard.

Disconnect the following flex connectors: screen flex, battery flex, ear speaker flex, and proximity sensor flex.

  • Pry up the motherboard and turn it upside down to release the connector behind.
  • If necessary, disconnect front facing and rear facing camera connectors on the motherboard.

Step 5 | Release the battery. (Be extremely patient and gentle.)

Locate the battery's adhesive stickers and pry it loose at the edges.

  • Use a Spudger to carefully pry up the stickers from one edge.
  • Gently tear the battery away from its mounting point by hand.

Step 6 | Release the small parts assembled in the front frame.

Use a pry tool to release each of the following:

  • The proximity sensor module.
  • The ear speaker.
  • The vibrating motor.

Step 7 | Galaxy S6 Edge Plus charging port assembly.

The charging port flex ribbon assembly is attached to the navigator flex, which is sandwiched between the front glass and LCD. To access it, you'll need to tear down the front glass first.
