Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Rear Camera Replacement

Remove and replace the rear camera lens on your phone using this guide.

Step 1 | SIM Card

  • Insert a fingernail or a plastic opening tool into the SIM tray pivot.
  • Pry open the tray to dislodge it from the socket.

Remove the SIM tray containing the SIM card.

Heat the front face of the phone (sides, top, bottom) with an iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun for 60 seconds to loosen adhesive.

  • If using an iOpener, heat it in a microwave for 30 seconds before use.
  • Use the heated tool to loosen adhesive around the edge of the glass.

Apply a suction cup to the bottom half of the screen.

Avoid excessive force when removing the lower panel to prevent damage to the display.

  • Use a suction cup to gently pull the lower half of the panel.
  • Apply additional heat from the iOpener and reattempt if resistance persists.

Insert a plastic spudger at the bottom of the gap, between the glass and the frame.

  • Slide the spudger around the screen, prying the display gently away from the body.

Be careful not to pull too hard, as the lower screen half may be damaged.

  • Hold down the phone's frame with one hand.
  • Use a suction cup on the lower half of the screen and gently lift it away from the top edge of the motherboard.

Locate the small clip covering the screen connection.

  • Use tweezers to grasp the clip's crease and gently pull it out.

Disconnect the screen from its motherboard connector using a plastic spudger.

Remove the display assembly which includes both the LCD and Digitizer.

Use the PH000 Phillips Head Screwdriver to remove the sixteen 4mm screws.

  • Identify all sixteen screws attached to the frame.
  • Remove each screw using a single, gentle twisting motion.

Apply gentle pressure to the top, bottom, and sides of the phone.

  • You should hear the release clips start to disengage.

Remove all clips.

  • Pull out the rear case.
  • The battery is located in the rear case.

Insert a plastic opening tool into the side of the frame.

  • Pull out the battery.

Disconnect and remove the battery from its mounting position in the frame.

Step 16 | Rear Camera

  • Remove the rear camera from the motherboard using a plastic tool.

Be sure to separate the camera carefully, as it may be connected to the board.

Remove the rear camera from the motherboard using tweezers.
