Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Headphone Jack Replacement

Inspect the headphone jack for debris before starting repair.

  • Use an ESD-safe brush or small dust blower to remove dust buildup.

Test headphones or auxiliary cords with phone to confirm faulty part.

Ensure the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is completely powered off and disconnected from external power before beginning repair.

Step 1 | SIM Card

Insert a fingernail or a plastic opening tool into the pivot on the side of the SIM tray.

  • Pry open the tray until it comes out of its socket.

Locate and remove the SIM tray containing the SIM card.

Apply heat to the front face (sides, top, bottom) for 60 seconds using the iOpener, a hair dryer, or a heat gun.

Heat the iOpener in the microwave for thirty seconds before use.

Attach a suction cup to the lower half of the screen.

Do not apply excessive force when pulling the panel — risk of damage to the display.

  • Pull the lower half of the panel gently using the suction cup.
  • If resistance is still felt, reapply heat and repeat this step as needed.

Insert a plastic spudger into the gap at the bottom.

  • Slide the spudger around the screen, prying the display gently away from the body.

Lifting the screen can cause damage if not done carefully.

  • Use a suction cup on the lower half of the screen.
  • Hold down the phone frame with your other hand.
  • Lift only the lower part of the screen, being careful not to pull too hard.
  • A clip connects this section to the motherboard's top; avoid ripping it loose.

Remove the glass cover to access the top of the phone.

  • Locate a small clip covering the screen connection at the top of the phone.
  • Use tweezers to grasp the clip by its side crease and gently pull it out.

Undo the screen connector with a plastic tool.

Disconnect the display cables from the motherboard.

Be careful when handling the display assembly, as it may be fragile.

  • Lift the display assembly up and away from the main board.
  • Gently disconnect the display connectors from the battery board.

Remove the sixteen 4mm screws from the frame using a PH000 Phillips Head Screwdriver.

Apply gentle pressure to the top, bottom, and sides of the phone.

  • The rear case should begin to separate as you apply pressure.
  • You may hear the clips releasing as they come undone.

Remove rear case clips by allowing them to pop.

  • Pull out rear case to separate it from the battery frame.
  • The battery will be located on the back side of the battery frame.

Insert a plastic opening tool on the side of the frame.

Pull out the battery using the inserted tool.

Disconnect and remove battery from the frame.

Step 16 | Motherboard

  • Disconnect each of the three motherboard connectors using a plastic tool.

Insert flats end of spudger under motherboard, then twist to pry board up.

Disconnect the motherboard mounting screws.

  • Lift the motherboard away from the rear case.

Step 19 | Headphone Jack

Careful prying required: the headphone jack may be glued to the rear case.

  • Insert a spudger between the headphone jack and the rear case, at the bottom edge.
  • Pry gently to loosen the headphone jack connection.

Step 20

Remove the headphone jack using a plastic opening tool.

  • Pry the headphone jack up from the rear case.
  • Once loose, remove the headphone jack from the rear case.
