Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Front Camera Replacement

Replace the front camera lens on your phone using this guide.

Step 1 | SIM Card

Insert a plastic opening tool into the SIM tray's pivot.

  • Pry open the tray using a gentle rocking motion.
  • The tray should now be removable from its socket.

Step 2

Locate and push the SIM ejector tool into the small hole on the phone.

Gently pry out the SIM tray containing the SIM card.

Step 3 | Display Assembly

Apply heat to the front face (sides, top, bottom) of the phone using an iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun for 60 seconds.

  • If using an iOpener, heat it in a microwave for 30 seconds before use.
  • This step loosens the adhesive around the edge of the glass.

Position the suction cup on the lower half of the screen and secure it firmly.

Avoid excessive force, which can damage the display.

  • Pull the lower half of the panel gently with a suction cup.
  • If resistance persists, leave the iOpener on longer and repeat the process.

Insert a plastic opening tool at the bottom, between the glass and frame.

  • Slide the tool around the screen, prying the display gently away from the body.

Risk of damage: do not pull too hard on the lower half of the screen.

  • Use a suction cup to carefully lift the lower part of the screen.
  • Hold down the phone's frame with one hand to stabilize both components.
  • The lower screen is connected by a clip to the top of the motherboard; be cautious not to rip it off.

Locate the small clip covering the screen connection.

  • Use tweezers to grasp the clip at its crease.
  • Pull the clip out carefully.

Disconnect the screen cable using a plastic spudger.

  • Remove the display assembly, which includes both the LCD and Digitizer.

Step 11 | Battery

Remove the PH000 Phillips head screwdriver and use it to take out the sixteen 4mm screws that secure the frame.

  • Each screw is located in a corresponding hole in the frame's exterior, near the top edge.
  • Gently turn each screw counterclockwise until it comes loose and can be removed completely.

Apply gentle pressure to the top, bottom, and sides of the phone.

You may hear the clips release as they are undone.

  • Remove all clips that have popped open.
  • Pull out the rear case to release it from the frame holding the battery.
  • The battery will be located on the back of this frame.

Locate the plastic opening tool on the side of the frame.

  • Pull the battery outwards with the tool to remove it.

Disconnect and remove the battery from the frame.

Step 16 | Motherboard

Undo all the connections on the motherboard using a plastic tool.

  • Remove three separate motherboard connectors.

Insert the flats end of the spudger under the motherboard, then twist to pry the board upwards.

Step 18

Remove the motherboard from the rear case.

Step 19 | Front Camera

Locate the front camera module on the motherboard.

  • Flip the motherboard over to access the back side.
  • Disengage the camera connection using a plastic tool.

Step 20

Remove the front camera from the motherboard using a pair of tweezers.
