This repair guide is for replacing the motherboard on a Samsung Galaxy S5 mini.
Insert fingertip or plastic spudger into the slot above the power button.
Do not force the new battery into place — risk of damage.
Careful of screen damage when prying, use a spudger or plastic opening tool to disconnect the home button cable connector.
Flip the phone over so it's lying on its back.
Be careful not to insert the pick more than 1/8 inch, as some components can be damaged.
Reheat the display using the iOpener, focusing on the top and left side.
Insert a fourth opening pick at the lower left corner next to your home button.
Do not disconnect the display assembly from the frame yet, as it is still secured by a cable.
Ensure the top part of the display assembly remains adjacent to the frame.
Use a suction handle to lift the display off your phone.
Continue to pull the display assembly away from your phone to fully remove it.
Remove the 12 x 4 mm Phillips screws (#00) from the midframe.
Flip the phone over.
Apply heat to the midframe using a blow dryer or an iOpener.
Be cautious not to damage any components under the midframe with excessive heat.
Ensure even pressure is applied to prevent midframe damage or bending.
Remove the 3 mm Phillips #00 screw securing the daughterboard.
Remove the 3 mm Phillips #00 screw securing the motherboard.
Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry off the rear-facing camera module from the motherboard.
Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry off the front-facing camera from the motherboard.
Remove the SIM card assembly by prying it up with a plastic opening tool.
