Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Display Assembly Replacement

Make sure you are familiar with the process and have all necessary tools before attempting repair.

  • Remove the SIM card tray using a paper clip or a sim ejector tool.
  • Disconnect the battery connector located near the charging port.
  • Remove the display assembly screws and carefully pry open the rear case.
  • Disconnect the display cables from the motherboard.
  • Remove the old display assembly and replace it with a new one, ensuring all connectors are securely attached.
  • Reassemble everything in reverse order and test your device for proper functionality.

Step 1 | Rear Panel

Insert a fingernail or a plastic opening tool into the slot above the power button.

  • Pull the panel off the back of the phone gently.
  • The plastic snaps will separate with a popping sound.

Step 2 | Battery

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the slot at the bottom of the battery.

  • Gently pry the battery away from the phone using the tool.
  • When replacing, ensure the contacts are aligned and press lightly.
  • The battery may fit in multiple directions; do not force it.

Step 3 | Display Assembly

Flip the phone over and place it on a flat surface with the back facing you.

  • Pry up the home button cable connector using a spudger or plastic opening tool, then disconnect it.
  • For reassembly, insert the home button cable connector through the open slot in the display assembly.
  • Use an iOpener to loosen the adhesive beneath the display.

Flip the phone over so it is face down.

    plastic opening tool or pick between screen and frame on right side, slide to loosen adhesive.
  • Lift display assembly away from frame, leaving a small gap, with first pick in bottom right corner next to home button.
  • Insert second pick at top left corner, sliding up to loosen more adhesive, but do not insert more than 1/8 inch to avoid damaging components.

Do not insert opening pick too far — risk of component damage.

Use an iOpener to reheat the display, focusing on the top and left sides.

  • Insert a third opening pick and carefully guide it to the top left corner of the phone.
  • Be cautious near the front camera and loudspeaker.

  • Insert a fourth opening pick and slide it to the lower left corner next to your home button.
  • Do not remove the display assembly from the frame; it is still connected by a cable.

  • Flip the opening pick in the top right corner to lift the display. If it's still sticky, reposition the picks to find remaining adhesive.

Step 7

Unplug the display flex connector using a spudger.

  • Leave the top portion of the display assembly next to the frame.

Use a suction handle to lift the display off your phone.

  • The home button cable connector should pass through a small gap in the mid frame, staying with the display.
  • If it doesn't fit, use a tweezer to gently guide it into place.

Be careful not to damage any cables during this process.

  • Pull the display assembly away from the phone to remove it completely.
