Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Daughterboard Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing a faulty , which houses both the USB charging port and antenna.

Step 1 | Daughterboard

  • Locate the clip at the edge of the back panel.
  • Insert a fingernail into the indentation beside the clip.

Remove the battery.

  • If installed, also remove the SIM card and SD card.
  • During reassembly, ensure that the battery contacts are properly aligned.

Locate and open the small cover, then release the home button flex connector.

Heat may damage components — be cautious.

  • Apply heat to the screen and carefully cut adhesive around the edges.
  • Pry the screen upwards and release the LCD connector.
  • Lift the connector upwards or to the left at the top right corner of the screen.

Disconnect the LCD connector from the motherboard.

Release the screws securing the LCD bezel and gently pry it away from the laptop casing.

  • Carefully lift out the LCD screen assembly.

Remove all the screws.

Disconnect and remove the mid-plate.

Release the USB board flex connector and antenna cable connectors.

  • Remove the screw.

Remove the daughterboard.

  • Clean the signal cables from the assembly.
  • Replace with a new USB charging board designed for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini.
