This guide is for replacing the motherboard in your Samsung Galaxy S4. Proceed with caution.
Use caution when prying — risk of damage.
Grasp the rear case at the corner adjacent to the divot and lift it off the phone.
Insert microSD card with flat end of spudger or fingernail.
Be careful not to force the card, as it may be damaged.
For reassembly, insert microSD card until it clicks into place.
Insert the plastic opening tool or your finger into the notch on the battery compartment.
Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to press the SIM card slightly deeper into its slot.
Push the SIM card into the slot during reassembly until you hear the click to secure it in place.
Remove nine 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the display assembly.
Bend the midframe carefully to avoid cracking the chrome bezel.
Continue to pry around the corner of the phone.
Continue sliding the opening tool around the top of the phone.
Remove the midframe from the display assembly.
Disconnect the headphone jack assembly cable using a plastic spudger.
Remove the 2.4 mm Phillips #00 screw securing the motherboard assembly.
Remove the motherboard carefully.
Disconnect the rear-facing camera connector with the flat end of a spudger.
Use tweezers or your fingers to slide the rear-facing camera out of its notch on the motherboard.
