Samsung Galaxy S4 Front Facing Camera Replacement

Ensure you have purchased a compatible replacement front-facing camera for your Samsung Galaxy S4 before proceeding.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to pry in the divot to the left of the rear-facing camera.

Lift the rear case at the corner closest to the divot, then slide it off the phone.

Step 3 | MicroSD Card

  • Press the microSD card firmly into its slot using the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail to hear a click.
  • Release the card and it will pop out, allowing you to remove it.

Ensure the card clicks securely in place during reassembly to avoid losing data.

  • To reinstall, push the microSD card into its slot until it clicks firmly in place.

Step 4 | Battery

  • Insert a plastic opening tool or your finger into the battery compartment notch and lift upwards.
  • Remove the battery from your device.

Step 5 | SIM Card

  • Press the SIM card into its slot using a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.
  • You will know it's seated correctly when you hear a click.

  • Release the card and it should pop out of its slot.

Remove the SIM card.

  • During reassembly, push the SIM card into the slot until it clicks in place.

Step 6 | Midframe

Remove the nine 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws.

  • Securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Beware of cracking thin points on the midframe bezel.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the display glass and chrome border, starting from the volume button side.
  • Slide the tool along the seam to separate the plastic clips, prying gently but firmly enough to break free one clip at a time.
  • Avoid bending thin points on the midframe bezel too much.

Step 8

Continue to pry around the corner of the phone.

  • Opening Tool, slide along the seam between the midframe and display at the bottom, releasing more plastic clips.

Step 9

Locate the gap near the power button and insert an opening tool.

  • Pry gently along the seam using the tool.

Continue sliding the opening tool around the top of the phone to release the remaining clips and free the midframe from the display assembly.

  • Run the tool along the perimeter of the device again, if necessary, to ensure all plastic clips are released.

Remove the midframe from the display assembly.

Step 12 | Front Facing Camera

Remove the upper display assembly bracket.

Disconnect the front-facing camera cable with the flat end of a spudger.

Step 14

Disconnect and remove the front-facing camera module.
