This repair guide is for replacing a faulty motherboard on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active smartphone.
Locate the small indentation to the left of the rear-facing camera.
Beware: rear case may be fragile and prone to cracking.
Insert plastic opening tool or your finger into the notch of the battery compartment.
Lift the battery upward to remove it.
Press the SIM card slightly deeper into its slot using a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.
Continue pressing until you hear a click, then release the card.
The SIM card will pop out of its slot after being released. Remove it to complete this step.
Remove the four metallic pads from the corners using the tip of a spudger.
Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry along the entire edge of the midframe, releasing it from the front case.
Use blunt nose tweezers to gently pull out the volume button.
Use the flat end of a plastic opening tool to disconnect the USB board connector.
Remove the 2.4 mm Phillips #00 screw from the motherboard assembly.
Disconnect all cables from the motherboard.
