Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Vibrator Replacement

  • Follow the steps below to replace the vibrator in your Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
  • This guide assumes you have experience with electronics repair.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Leverage the plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the divot to the left of the camera, near the power button.

  • Lift the rear case by its nearest corner and remove it from the phone.

Step 2 | MicroSD Card

Press the microSD card firmly into its slot with a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.

You'll know it's seated properly when you hear a click.

  • Release the microSD card and it will pop out of its slot.
  • Remove the microSD card.

Step 3 | Battery

Insert a plastic opening tool or your finger into the notch on top of the battery compartment.

Lift the battery up and away from its holder to completely remove it.

Step 4 | SIM Card

Press the SIM card slightly deeper with a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.

  • You'll know it's seated properly when you hear a click.
  • Release the SIM card and it will pop out of its slot.
  • Remove the SIM card.

Step 5 | Midframe

Use a spudger to carefully pry out the four metallic pads from each corner.

  • Remove the 12 screws holding the midframe in place using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry along the entire edge of the midframe, loosening its grip on the front case.

Step 7 | Motherboard

Disconnect the USB board connector using a plastic opening tool with its flat end.

  • Remove the front-facing camera cable connector.
  • Disconnect the earpiece speaker assembly cable connector.
  • Disconnect the headphone jack assembly cable connector.
  • Remove the display/digitizer cable connector.
  • Disconnect the antenna cable connector.

Step 8

Remove 2.4 mm Phillips #00 screw from the motherboard assembly.

Step 9

Disconnect all cables from the motherboard and carefully lift it out of its socket.

  • Use a motherboard removal tool if necessary.
  • Gently rock the motherboard back and forth to dislodge any remaining clips.

Step 10 | Vibrator

Remove the vibrator with tweezers.
