Samsung Galaxy S25 Rear Cameras Replacement

If rear camera pictures or video appear fuzzy, noisy, or focusing is an issue, camera replacement might be necessary.

  • Prepare to use replacement back cover adhesive.
  • The following procedure may differ slightly due to some photos being from a different model.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

Step 1 image

Allow the Galaxy's battery to drain below 25% before proceeding, as a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.

  • Unplug all cables from your phone.
  • Power down your device: Press and hold the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off".

Step 2 | Cracked glass preparation

Step 2 image

Glass shards can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply packing tape to cracked back glass, covering it completely to contain the glass.
  • A single strip of tape should span the bottom edge, large enough for a suction cup to fit on.

Do not apply tape to the frame. Consider wearing safety glasses during the repair.

Step 3 | Heat the back cover

Step 3 image

Careful heating is required to avoid damaging the display and battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes, or use a hair dryer/heat gun (follow safe usage guidelines).
  • Once warmed, separate the adhesive by gently prying up the back cover from the frame.

Step 4 | Adhesive information

Step 4 image

Avoid damaging camera components by inserting tools carefully.

  • Note the adhesive pattern around the device's frame for separation reference.
  • Insert tools only slightly under the back cover, near the cameras.

Step 5 | Apply a suction handle

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 2

Position the suction handle near the bottom edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as possible.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Step 6 image

Hold the phone steady with one hand, keeping fingers on the back of the device.

  • Pull up on the suction handle until a gap forms between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap.

Be careful, as your phone may be hot to the touch.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Step 7 image

  • Insert the opening pick at the lower right corner of the device.
  • Work the pick along the right edge, gently prying away from the adhesive.

Step 9 | Separate the top edge adhesive

Step 9 image

  • Insert the pick about 2-3mm into the gap, near the cameras.
  • Guide the pick around the top right corner and along the top edge to loosen the adhesive.

Step 10 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Step 10 image

Insert an opening pick at the top left corner, then slide it down the left edge.

  • Continue moving the pick along the edge until the adhesive separates.

Step 11 | Remove the back cover

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 3

Use a suction handle to lift and remove the back cover.

  • If the cover still feels stuck, reapply an opening pick along the perimeter to separate remaining adhesive.

Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing it up; power down completely afterwards.

  • Check rear cameras for smudges and wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth if necessary.
  • Apply replacement back cover adhesive to either the frame or back cover; use cutouts and contours for best alignment.

Step 12 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Step 12 image

Keep track of each screw to avoid damaging your phone.

  • Remove 13 screws using a Phillips screwdriver:
    • 6 x 3.5 mm screws for the wireless charging coil
    • 7 x 3.5 mm screws for the loudspeaker

Ensure each screw is replaced in its original position.

Step 14 | Unclip the loudspeaker

Step 14 image

Prying at the wrong location risks damaging the fragile surface-mounted components.

  • Locate the gold arrow on the board indicating the correct prying spot.
  • Use a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the battery press connector.

Step 17 | Disconnect the earpiece speaker

Step 17 image

Use a spudger to lift the earpiece speaker from the center of the bottom edge until it unclips.

Avoid touching the cameras and be careful not to press on any surface-mounted components.

  • Remove the earpiece speaker.
  • During reassembly, press firmly around the perimeter of the speaker to engage its clips.

Hold the motherboard by its edges only.

  • Lift the top edge and remove it carefully.
  • Avoid snagging cables during removal.

Be cautious with connectors and surface-mounted components to prevent damage.

During reassembly, manage cables by holding them out of the way or repositioning as needed.

Step 24 | Hold the motherboard up

Step 24 image

Avoid pressing the motherboard firmly against your work surface — risk of damaging delicate components.

  • Flip the motherboard over and suspend it above your work surface using both hands.
  • Beware of touching or smudging the exposed camera lenses, which are fragile.

Step 25 | Remove the ultrawide camera

Step 25 image
