Samsung Galaxy S25 Battery Replacement

Your phone's lithium-ion battery has a limited lifespan — if it dies quickly or has other issues, replacement might be necessary.

  • Check for signs of a swollen battery and take appropriate precautions if found.
  • Have replacement back cover adhesive ready to complete the repair.
  • Some photos in this guide may show slight visual discrepancies due to being from a different model, but they won't affect the procedure.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

Step 1 image

Let the Galaxy's battery drain below 25% before proceeding, as a charged lithium-ion battery may be prone to fire if damaged.

  • Unplug all cables from the phone.
  • Power off the device completely by holding the side key and volume down button and selecting Power off.

Step 2 | Cracked glass preparation

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Cracked glass can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply non-overlapping packing tape strips to cover the cracked glass completely, excluding the frame.
  • A single strip of tape at the bottom edge should be wide enough for a suction cup to adhere.

Wear safety glasses to protect eyes from loose glass particles during repair.

Step 3 | Heat the back cover

Step 3 image

Careful handling required: improper use of a heat gun may damage the display and/or battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes, or use a hair dryer or heat gun.
  • Alternatively, you can use a heat gun, but follow the linked instructions carefully to avoid damaging the device.

The adhesive softens with heat; this makes it easier to separate the back cover from the frame.

Step 4 | Adhesive information

Thumbnail 3

Use the provided picture as a reference for separating the adhesive from the phone's frame.

  • Insert your tool gently under the back cover, but only near the cameras, to avoid damaging them.
  • Avoid applying too much force to prevent adhesive damage.

Step 5 | Apply a suction handle

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 2

Position the suction handle on the center of the back cover's bottom edge, as near to the edge as feasible.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Step 6 image

Hold the phone down with your lifting hand's fingers or steady the frame with your other hand – your phone might be hot.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force until a gap appears between the back cover and frame.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Apply heat if the back cover feels stuck during separation.

  • Insert an opening pick along the bottom edge.
  • Separate the adhesive using gentle prying motions.

Step 8 | Separate the right edge adhesive

  • Insert an opening pick at the lower right corner.
  • Gently slide it along the right edge, working towards the top.
  • Continue until the adhesive is fully separated.

Step 9 | Separate the top edge adhesive

Insert opening pick about 2-3mm into gap beside cameras.

  • Work the pick around top right corner, then along top edge.
  • This will loosen the adhesive and help separate display.

Step 10 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Step 10 image

Insert an opening pick into the top-left corner and gently pry along the left edge.

  • The aim is to loosen the adhesive.
  • Work your way slowly down the left edge to avoid damaging surrounding components.

Step 11 | Remove the back cover

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 3

Use a suction handle to lift and remove the back cover.

If the cover still feels stuck, go back around the perimeter with an opening pick to separate any remaining adhesive.

  • Power on your phone and test all functions during reassembly.
  • Make sure to power down your phone completely before continuing work.

  • Check the rear cameras for smudges and gently wipe them with a clean, lint-free cloth if necessary.

Apply replacement back cover adhesive to either the frame or the back cover. Use cutouts and contours to determine best alignment.

Step 12 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Step 12 image

Keep track of each screw during this repair.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the thirteen screws securing the wireless charging and loudspeaker assembly.
  • There are six 3.5 mm-long screws for the wireless charging coil.
  • Seven 3.5 mm-long screws secure the loudspeaker.

Make sure each screw is replaced exactly where it was removed to avoid damaging your phone.

Step 14 | Unclip the loudspeaker

Step 14 image

Insert the pointed tip of a spudger under the left side of the loudspeaker and gently pry it up until it releases.

  • During reassembly, press firmly around the edges of the loudspeaker to engage its clips.

Pry at incorrect locations risks damaging the board's surface-mounted components.

  • Locate the gold arrow marking for each press connector on the board.
  • Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the battery press connector.

Step 17 | Disconnect the interconnect and screen cables

Step 17 image

Be careful when prying up the connectors to avoid damage.

  • Use the point of a spudger to pry up and disconnect each connector.
  • Delete three press connectors on the bottom edge of the motherboard.
  • These connectors include the interconnect and screen cable press connectors.

Puncturing or denting the battery poses a risk of chemical leakage and fire.

  • Use only blunt tools, avoiding sharp edges and metal.
  • Pry up plastic tabs on the battery's edges using your fingers, starting from the black circular arrow markings.
  • If needed, use an opening pick to gently lift a tab until it can be gripped with your fingers.

Step 21 | Remove the battery

Step 21 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Hold the plastic tabs out of the way.

  • Remove the battery without forcing it.
  • Maintain clear access by detaching all plastic tabs.

Do not force removal of stuck battery to avoid damage.

  • Verify your replacement battery matches the original in terms of design, not sleeve material.
  • Remove any adhesive liners from the bottom of the new battery.

Ensure correct reconnection to avoid misalignment.

  • Temporarily reconnect the battery press connector by hand.
  • Lay the battery into its recess and secure it firmly in place.

Disconnect the battery before proceeding with further repairs.

Step 22 | Remove the old adhesive

Avoid using tools on the metallic vapor chamber as they can cause damage.

  • Slowly peel up the plastic battery sleeve with most of the adhesive coming off with it.
  • If remaining adhesive is still present, use a spudger or your fingers to carefully remove it from the frame.
