Samsung Galaxy S25+ Battery Replacement

A dead or worn-out battery can cause issues with your Samsung Galaxy S25+ smartphone. Check for signs of battery failure: rapid discharge, poor charging capacity, or shutdowns despite remaining power.

  • Purchase a new battery and replacement back cover adhesive to ensure proper fit and protection.
  • Replace the battery if it's swollen; take necessary precautions to prevent damage.
  • Check that your new battery comes in a protective sleeve, or purchase one separately to avoid damage.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

Step 1 image

Allow the Galaxy's battery to drain below 25% before proceeding — a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.

  • Unplug all cables from your phone.
  • Power off completely by holding the side key and volume down button, then selecting Power off.

Step 2 | Cracked glass preparation

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Cracked back glass can cause injury or complicate disassembly, so carefully proceed with the following step.

  • Apply strips of packing tape directly onto the cracked glass, covering it completely to prevent further breakage and ensure a secure suction cup grip.
  • A single strip of tape should be applied along the bottom edge, just large enough for the suction cup to fit. Ensure it's not overlapping with other tapes or stuck to the frame.

Consider wearing safety glasses to protect your eyes from potential glass fragments during the repair process.

Step 3 | Heat the back cover

Step 3 image

Improper heat gun usage may damage the display and/or battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes or use a hair dryer/heating tool instead.
  • The adhesive will soften, allowing easier separation of the back cover from the frame.

Step 4 | Adhesive information

Use the provided image for reference when separating the back cover's adhesive from the frame.

  • Insert your tool only slightly under the cover, near the cameras, to prevent damage.

Step 5 | Apply a suction handle

Apply a suction handle to the center of the back cover's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Be cautious of hot components.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong force until a gap forms between the back cover and frame.
  • Hold the phone down or steady the frame with your free hand to prevent damage.
  • Insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Insert the pick slightly, 2-3 mm deep, near the cameras.

  • Move the pick towards the top right corner.
  • Slide it along the top edge to separate the adhesive.

Step 10 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Insert an opening pick at the top left corner of the device.

  • Guide the pick down the left edge, applying gentle pressure to loosen the adhesive.

Step 11 | Remove the back cover

Use a suction handle to remove the back cover.

  • If stuck, apply an opening pick around the perimeter and separate remaining adhesive.

Power on your phone and test functions before reassembly, then power down completely.

  • Inspect rear cameras for smudges; wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth if necessary.

Apply replacement adhesive to either the frame or back cover:

  • Use cutouts and contours to ensure proper alignment.
  • If applied to the back cover, follow this guide. If applied to the frame, use the alternate guide.

Hold the plastic tabs out of the way.

Do not force the battery out if stuck.

Ensure all plastic tabs are detached and out of the way, allowing the battery to lift away effortlessly.

  • Remove any adhesive liners from the bottom of the replacement battery.
  • Temporarily reconnect the battery press connector using your finger while holding the battery above its recess.
  • Lay the battery into its recess and press down firmly to secure it.
  • Disconnect the battery before continuing.
