Allow the Galaxy's battery to drain below 25% before starting this repair.

  • Ensure a charged lithium-ion battery is not damaged, as it may catch fire during disassembly.
  • Disconnect all cables from your phone.

Power off the phone completely by holding the side key and volume down button simultaneously to prevent data loss or damage.

Glass shards can cause injury; cracked back glass must be contained.

  • Apply non-overlapping strips of packing tape across the crack, covering only the glass.
  • Ease a strip along the bottom edge to accommodate a suction cup.

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying debris.

Step 3 | Heat the back cover

Improper heat gun use can damage the display and/or battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the back cover's bottom edge for two minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the cover.

Power down your phone completely before continuing work.
