Lithium-ion batteries can catch fire when damaged, so let the phone's battery drain below 25%.

  • Power off the phone completely.
  • Unplug all cables from the device.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Apply gentle pressure to loosen the back cover from its adhesive.

  • Use an iOpener to heat the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • As a substitute, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to apply targeted heat.

Step 3 | Apply a suction handle

Step 3 image

Remove the back cover.

Check the perimeter for remaining adhesive and use an opening pick to separate if needed.

  • Power on your phone and test functions before reassembly.
  • Ensure phone is powered down completely before continuing work.

Inspect rear cameras, wipe clean with lint-free cloth if necessary.

Apply replacement adhesive to either the frame or back cover, using cutouts and contours for alignment.
