Note that replacing the old screen with a new one will result in loss of IP rating and potential issues with water resistance if not properly sealed.
Allow the phone's battery to drain below 25% to prevent potential damage or fire.
Apply iOpener to right edge of back cover for 2 minutes.
Do not heat phone beyond this point to avoid battery damage from excessive heat.
If trouble persists, apply more heat to further soften adhesive.
Apply iOpener to the bottom of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Rotate the opening pick around the bottom right corner.
Continue rotating until the adhesive is fully separated.
Insert another opening pick to the left of the existing one.
Make sure this new pick is along the bottom edge, slicing through any remaining adhesive.
Leave both picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Reheat your iOpener and apply it to the left side of the back cover for two minutes.
Hold the opening pick at the bottom left corner and rotate it slowly.
Be careful not to apply too much pressure, which can damage the screen.
Insert a third opening pick above the last one and slide it along the left edge.
Do not insert more than 4 mm deep, as this can damage the rear cameras or flash.
Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the top of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Insert the opening pick into the top left corner and rotate it to loosen the adhesive.
Insert a fourth opening pick in the top left corner, ensuring it's at the same depth as the other picks.
Insert a fifth opening pick directly above the camera flash cutout.
Avoid inserting the pick beyond its center point to prevent damage to the rear cameras.
Remove the back cover by lifting its edges and sliding it off the phone.
Power on your phone and test functions before reassembly. Ensure it is fully powered down before continuing work.
If using custom-cut adhesives, refer to the relevant guide. For double-sided tape, consult the corresponding guide as well.
Use a spudger to pry up the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.
Do not force the connector; try repositioning if necessary and attempt again.
Remove the wireless charging coil by taking out its six Phillips screws, each 3.5 mm long.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up the speaker from this point, releasing its clips.
Use a fingernail or flat spudger end to pry up the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker assembly.
Locate the battery cable press connector on the motherboard. Insert the flat end of a spudger under the connector and pry upwards to release.
Use a spudger to gently lift the screen cable press connector by inserting its tip into the cable's base at the lower left edge of the phone.
Disconnect the screen cable from the phone.
Align the back cover with the frame and press down evenly with your fingers to lightly secure it.
Flip the phone over so that the screen is facing upwards.
Apply overlapping strips of packing tape to cover the cracked glass.
Use a iFlex or similar tool to create an initial gap between the front glass and frame.
Do not overheat the phone — risk of battery damage.
Attach a suction handle to the center top edge of the screen, as close to the edge as possible.
Remove the iFlex and replace it with an opening pick.
Slide the opening pick along the left edge of the display to disconnect it from the glass.
If stuck, heat the bottom edge of the screen with a hair dryer or heat gun until almost too hot to touch, then try again.
Attach a suction handle to the middle of the screen's top edge.
Careful not to burn yourself with overheated display.
Separate the glass screen and display unit.
