Samsung Galaxy S24 Screen and Battery Assembly Replacement

Your Samsung Galaxy S24's screen and battery assembly must be replaced as one part, so ensure you have the correct component before starting. Completely discharge the battery to minimize fire risk during disassembly.

  • Check your device's condition: if the battery is swollen, take extra precautions.
  • The repair will compromise the water resistance of your Galaxy S24. You must reapply the back cover adhesive carefully to maintain any remaining IP rating.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Step 1 image

Ensure the battery level is below 25% to prevent potential fire hazards with a damaged lithium-ion battery.

Power down your phone completely, then disconnect all cables.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Step 2 image

Do not apply excessive heat, as it may cause battery damage.

  • Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover using an iOpener for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the right edge of the back glass until it is hot to the touch.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

  • Attach a suction handle near the right edge of the back cover.
  • Pull up firmly on the suction handle to create a small gap between the cover and frame.
  • Applying excessive force can cause damage — use steady, strong pressure instead.

    • Apply additional heat if necessary for better adhesive release.
    • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 3

Insert an opening pick at the top right edge of the device, sliding it downwards to separate the back cover from the frame.

Be cautious not to remove the pick until the repair is complete, as this can cause the adhesive to seal again.

  • Position the opening pick in the bottom right corner and leave it there to maintain access.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 5 image

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the bottom of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 6 image

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Step 8 image

Reapply the iOpener to the left side of the back cover, reheating it as necessary for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 9 image

Thumbnail 2

Insert a fifth opening pick directly above the camera flash cutout.

  • Slide the opening pick under the top of the back cover until it starts to snag on the flash adhesive.
  • Pull the pick deeper into the phone until the adhesive separates from the back cover.

Do not insert the pick beyond its center point, as this may damage the rear cameras.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Step 15 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Remove the back cover by picking it up from its edges and lifting it off the phone.

  • If the cover is stuck to the frame, use an opening pick to carefully pry it loose around the perimeter.
  • During reassembly:
    • Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing the back up. Make sure to turn off your phone completely afterwards.

    • Use tweezers or your fingers to remove any leftover adhesive chunks.
    • If needed, apply heat and 90% isopropyl alcohol to help loosen stubborn adhesives.

For custom-cut adhesives or double-sided tape, refer to their respective guides for proper application procedures.
