Samsung Galaxy S24 Front Camera Replacement

Replacing the front camera may compromise your Samsung Galaxy S24's water resistance and void its IP rating. To proceed:

  • Follow this guide for step-by-step instructions.

Reapplying the back cover adhesive carefully will help minimize loss of water resistance.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Step 1 image

Allow the phone's battery to discharge below 25% to avoid potential fire hazards with a damaged lithium-ion battery.

  • Power off the phone completely.
  • Remove all connected cables.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Step 2 image

Do not apply excessive heat, as this may cause battery damage.

  • Apply the iOpener or use a hair dryer to heat the right edge of the back glass for two minutes.
  • Wait until the edge is hot to the touch, but avoid overheating the phone.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Step 3 image

Apply a suction handle near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong force to create a gap.
  • If needed, reapply heat for additional adhesive softening.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Step 4 image

Insert an opening pick into the right edge, moving it along the border to separate the back cover from the frame.

Leave the opening pick in place at the bottom right corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 5 image

Reheat your iOpener and apply it to the bottom of the back cover for two minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 6 image

Insert a second opening pick to the left of the first, sliding it along the bottom edge.

Be careful not to press too hard and damage the device.

Leave the original opening pick in the bottom left edge to prevent resealing.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Step 8 image

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the left side of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 9 image

Position the opening pick at the bottom left corner of the device.

  • Rotate the opening pick slowly while applying gentle pressure.
  • The adhesive will begin to separate, allowing for easy access.

Step 10 | Separate the left adhesive

Step 10 image

Insert a third opening pick above the last one, and slide it along the left edge.

  • Make sure not to insert the pick more than 4 mm deep to avoid damaging the rear cameras or flash.
  • Leave the pick in place in the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Step 11 image

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the top of the back cover for two minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 12 image

  • Place a fourth opening pick in the top left corner, inserting it at the same depth as the others.
  • Guide this new pick along the top edge and around the top right corner to cut through the adhesive.

Step 14 | Separate the flash adhesive

Step 14 image

Insert a fifth opening pick directly above the camera flash cutout.

  • The opening pick should be inserted under the top of the back cover until it starts to snag on the flash adhesive.
  • Continue to insert the pick deeper into the phone, stopping when you feel the adhesive separate from the back cover completely.

Do not insert the pick any deeper than its center point to avoid damaging the rear cameras.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Step 15 image

Remove the back cover by lifting its edges.

  • If still stuck, use an opening pick to gently pry the cover from the frame around the perimeter.

Power on and test all functions before reassembling.

Ensure your phone is completely powered down before proceeding with further disassembly.

  • Remove any remaining adhesive chunks using tweezers or fingers.
  • Apply heat and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol if necessary to aid removal.

For custom-cut adhesives, refer to the specific guide provided.

For double-sided tape, consult the associated guide for reapplication instructions.
