Samsung Galaxy S24 Earpiece Speaker Replacement

Replacing the earpiece speaker will compromise your Samsung Galaxy S24's water resistance.

  • Use this guide to replace the damaged earpiece speaker.
  • Your device will no longer be IP rated after the repair, so apply new back cover adhesive carefully to restore some level of water resistance.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be hazardous when damaged — let it discharge below 25%.

  • Power down the device completely, then unplug all connected cables.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Careful not to overheat, as excessive heat can damage the battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat the right edge until it's hot to touch.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover, centered on the right edge.

  • Pull up firmly with strong force until a gap forms between cover and frame.
  • If needed, reapply heat for extra adhesive softening before proceeding.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the right edge, sliding it between the back cover and the frame to cut through the adhesive.

Leave the opening pick in the bottom right corner to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the bottom of the back cover for two minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

  • Hold the pick firmly and rotate it around the bottom right corner.
  • This should help loosen and separate the adhesive.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert a second opening pick to the left of the first one.

Continue sliding it along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.

Leave your opening pick in the bottom left edge to prevent resealing.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the left side of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Hold the opening pick at the bottom left corner and rotate it slowly to loosen the adhesive.

Step 10 | Separate the left adhesive

Insert no more than 4 mm to avoid camera/flash damage.

  • Slide a new opening pick along the left edge, near the top.
  • Leave this new pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the top of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the corner adhesive

Place the opening pick in the top left corner and rotate it slowly.

Apply gentle pressure — avoid applying too much force, which may damage the screen.

Step 13 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert a fourth opening pick into the top left corner, angling it to match the others.

  • Slide it along the top edge, maintaining the same depth.
  • Guide it around the top right corner and continue slicing through the adhesive.

Step 14 | Separate the flash adhesive

Insert a fifth opening pick above the camera flash cutout.

  • Do not insert the pick too deep, risk of damaging rear cameras.

  • Under the top back cover, feel for snag on the flash adhesive.
  • Continue to separate adhesive from back cover until complete release.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover by its edges.

  • If still attached, use an opening pick to separate the cover from the frame.

Power on your phone and test functions before sealing. Power down completely before proceeding.

  • Remove adhesive chunks with tweezers or fingers.
  • If necessary, apply heat and isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) to aid removal.
  • For custom-cut adhesives, follow the specific guide.
  • For double-sided tape, follow the specific guide.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use a spudger to pry up the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.

  • To reconnect, align the press connector carefully over its socket on the motherboard.
  • Press down gently with your fingertip on one side of the connector, then the other, until it clicks into place.
  • Do not force the connector; if necessary, reposition and try again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

Remove the screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Release six screws that secure the wireless charging coil. The screws are 3.5 mm long.
  • Next, remove seven screws that secure the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Locate the notch on the loudspeaker assembly's left edge.

  • Insert the point of a spudger into the notch.
  • Pry up the loudspeaker to release its clips.

Use a fingernail or spudger to carefully pry up the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker assembly.

  • Separate the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the frame.
  • Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from your phone.

During reassembly, press around the edges of the loudspeaker to secure it to the frame before reinserting screws.

Step 20 | Disconnect the battery

Insert the flat end of a spudger under the battery cable press connector, located on the motherboard. Pry up carefully to disconnect.

Step 21 | Disconnect the earpiece speaker

Position the spudger under the left side of the earpiece speaker connector.

Pry upwards gently to avoid damaging the connector.

Once disconnected, remove the spudger and inspect the area for any remaining debris.

Step 22 | Remove the earpiece speaker screws

Remove the earpiece speaker by unscrewing its five 3.5 mm long Phillips screws.

Position the spudger under the earpiece speaker assembly's bottom edge.

  • Pry up gently with the spudger to release the assembly from the chassis.
  • Once free, carefully lift out the earpiece speaker.
