Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra USB-C Port and Daughterboard Replacement

When replacing the USB-C port, you must also replace its connected .

  • The two parts are joined together with soldering and cannot be separated.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

A charged lithium-ion battery can be a safety hazard.

Allow the phone's battery to drain below 25%.

If the battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

  • Unplug any cables from your phone.
  • Press and hold the side key and volume down button.
  • Select "Power off" to turn off the phone.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Avoid overheating the device — the display and internal battery can suffer damage.

  • Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes using an iOpener or alternative heat source, such as a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply suction handle near center of right edge, avoiding over-heating with excessive heat.

  • Attach the suction handle and pull up firmly, creating a gap between cover and frame.
  • If necessary, re-apply more heat, following iOpener guidelines to prevent damage.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

  • Slide the pick back and forth along the right edge to break apart the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick inserted near the bottom right corner, preventing resealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert another opening pick beside the initial one, located at the lower part of the device's right side.

  • Rotate this new pick around the bottom right corner, working to break apart the adhesive.

Insert an opening pick at the bottom edge and slide it along to separate the adhesive.

Leave the pick in place near the bottom left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Apply a heated iOpener to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the left adhesive

  • Insert another opening pick beside the existing one, near the left side.
  • Rotate this new pick around the bottom left corner to break the adhesive.

Slide a pick along the left edge to separate the adhesive, stopping before reaching the power button.

  • Insert the pick no more than 4 mm deep to avoid damaging the antenna cable.
  • Leave the pick in place near the power button to prevent resealing.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Apply a heated iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the top-right edge gap.

  • Rotate the pick around the top-right corner to break the adhesive bond.

Avoid damaging the sensor or camera by only inserting up to 4mm.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge.
  • Separate the adhesive using a gentle motion.

Step 14 | Separate the remaining adhesive

Avoid inserting the pick more than 4mm to prevent camera damage.

  • Slide the pick around the top left corner and down the left edge to separate remaining adhesive.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Be cautious when handling the back cover to avoid damaging it.

  • Remove the back cover completely.
  • If stuck, use an opening pick around the edges to separate adhesive.

Power down your phone before proceeding with reassembly.

  • Test all functions by powering on your phone.
  • Remove any loose adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or fingers. Apply heat if necessary.

For custom-cut adhesives, follow the separate guide.

For double-sided tape, refer to the specific guide provided.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use a spudger to pry up the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.

Only pry at the recommended location indicated by the arrow near each press connector to avoid damaging surface-mounted components.

  • Pry in the direction of the arrow printed on the board for each press connector.
  • Reconnect press connectors by aligning them carefully over their sockets and pressing down gently with your fingertip.

Do not force the connector into place; if it doesn't click, reposition and try again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

  • Remove four 3.5 mm screws securing the wireless charging coil.
  • Next, remove six 3.5 mm screws securing the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Separate the coil adhesive

Use a spudger to carefully lift a corner of the tab covering the wireless charging coil.

Separate the tab from the frame using an opening pick.

Step 20 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Locate the loudspeaker's engraved arrow indicator on its right edge.

  • Spudger tip into gap between loudspeaker and frame, following the arrow indication.
  • Pry upwards to unclip loudspeaker from frame.

  • Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the frame.
  • During reassembly, press around the edges of the loudspeaker to secure it before reinstalling screws.

Step 22 | Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the battery press connector by prying it loose with a spudger.

Step 23 | Disconnect the interconnect cables

Disconnect both interconnect cable press connectors using a spudger.

  • Pry up each connector from the motherboard.
  • Gently rock the spudger back and forth to loosen the connection.

Disconnect the interconnect cable press connectors using a spudger.

  • Pry up each connector on the daughterboard.

Step 25 | Remove the interconnect cables

Remove all interconnect cables from the phone.

Step 26 | Remove the SIM card tray

Inserting the SIM eject tool into a microphone hole will not cause significant damage.

  • Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole.
  • Press the tool into the hole to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM card tray.

Step 27 | Remove the daughterboard screws

Remove the three 3.5 mm screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the top left corner of the daughterboard.

  • Pry against the frame, not the battery.
  • Remove the daughterboard once it's loose.

During reassembly, avoid applying pressure to the daughterboard until the USB-C port is securely seated in its recess.

  • Reinsert the USB-C port at an angle before pressing the daughterboard flat onto the frame.
