Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Rear Cameras Replacement

  • Replace the rear camera(s) on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra using this guide.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Allowing a charged lithium-ion battery to remain on can pose a safety hazard.

  • Optional: If the battery is swollen, exercise caution and follow recommended procedures.
  • Disconnect all external cables from your phone.
  • Simultaneously press and hold the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" to shut down your device.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Apply heat using an iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Be cautious when using alternative heating methods, as overheating can damage the display or internal battery.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up firmly to create a gap between cover and frame.
  • If necessary, apply more heat as directed for iOpener use.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Slide a pick back and forth along the right edge to separate the adhesive.

Leave the pick inserted near the bottom right corner to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert another opening pick beside the initial one, near the bottom of the phone's right side.

  • Rotate this new pick around the bottom right corner to break up the adhesive.

Insert an opening pick at the bottom edge and slide it towards the bottom left corner.

  • Separate the adhesive as you slide the pick.
  • Leave the pick inserted near the bottom left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the left adhesive

  • Insert a new opening pick beside the existing one.
  • Rotate this new pick towards the bottom left corner, working it between the phone and screen.

Insert pick too far and risk damaging the antenna cable.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge, stopping before the power button.
  • Limit insertion depth to 4 mm or less.
  • Leave the pick in place near the power button to prevent resealing of adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap at the top right edge.
  • Rotate the pick around the top right corner to loosen the adhesive.

Slide the pick along the top edge to separate the adhesive.

Avoid inserting the pick more than 4 mm to prevent damage to the nearby sensors and camera.

Step 14 | Separate the remaining adhesive

Avoid damaging the cameras by inserting the pick no deeper than 4 mm.

  • Slide the pick around the top left corner and down the left edge of the device to separate the adhesive.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

Slide an opening pick around the edges to separate any resealed adhesive if the cover is still attached.

  • Power on your phone and test all functions during reassembly.
  • Make sure to power down your phone completely before continuing work.

  • Use tweezers or fingers to remove any adhesive chunks, applying heat if necessary for separation.

For custom-cut adhesives, follow the relevant guide.

For double-sided tape, refer to its specific application instructions.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.

Avoid dislodging surface-mounted components; only pry at the recommended location indicated by the arrow near each press connector.

  • Pry in the recommended location, following the arrow on the board for each connector.
  • For reconnection, carefully align the connector over its socket and press down gently with your fingertip on one side, then the other, until it clicks into place.

Do not force the connector; if having trouble, try repositioning and attempting again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

Remove the Phillips screwdriver screws securing the wireless charging coil using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Disconnect four screws securing the wireless charging coil.
  • Remove six screws securing the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Separate the coil adhesive

Use a spudger to carefully lift one corner of the wireless charging coil's tab, which is stuck to the right frame edge.

  • The goal is to break the adhesive bond without damaging the tab or surrounding components.
  • Continue lifting and prying until the tab comes free from the frame.

Insert the opening pick into the gap between the tab and the frame.

  • Apply gentle pressure to pry the tab away from the frame.
  • Continue separating the tab until it comes loose completely.

Step 20 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Locate the engraved arrow on the loudspeaker, indicating where to pry.

  • Insert a spudger into the gap between the loudspeaker and the frame.
  • Pry gently until the loudspeaker is unclipped from the frame.

Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the frame.

  • Press around the edges of the loudspeaker during reassembly to secure it to the frame.
  • Reinsert the screws once the loudspeaker is in place.

  • Remove the earpiece speaker using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • The screws are three and a half millimeters long, there are five of them.

Locate the bottom edge of the earpiece speaker under the engraved arrow.

  • Squeeze the pointed end of a spudger underneath, then pry up to unclip the speaker.
  • Remove the earpiece speaker from its mounting position.

Ensure the top edge of the earpiece speaker is seated correctly before pressing down during reassembly.

  • Reinsert the top edge of the earpiece speaker into the frame, then press down to clip it back in place.

Step 26 | Disconnect the interconnect cables

Use a spudger to gently pry up and release both interconnect cable press connectors from the motherboard.

Step 28 | Remove the interconnect cables

Remove the interconnect cables by gently pulling them away from the phone.

  • Use your fingers or a finger grip tool to carefully grasp each cable.
  • Pull each cable straight out of its connector until it is completely disconnected.

Use a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the display cable press connector from the motherboard.

Then, completely remove the display cable.

Step 36 | Remove the motherboard screws

Remove the screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Left of the top camera: One 4.0 mm long screw.
  • Left of the bottom camera: One 3.5 mm long screw.

Step 37 | Remove the motherboard

Use a finger or a spudger to lift the top of the motherboard.

  • Remove the motherboard from the laptop.

Be careful not to snag any loose cables during removal.

  • During reassembly, ensure all press connectors are above the motherboard when reinstalling it.

  • Flip the motherboard over to access the rear camera press connectors.
  • Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the primary telephoto camera press connector.

Remove the Phillips screw securing the cameras with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • The screw is 3.5 mm long.
  • It secures the cameras to the camera assembly housing.

Step 43 | Remove the cameras

Flip the cameras over with the lenses facing upwards.

  • Lift out the primary telephoto camera from its holder in the camera assembly housing.

Remove the secondary telephoto camera from the camera assembly housing.

Adhesive may be used to secure this component.

Insert the flat end of a spudger into the gap between the bottom of the ultrawide camera and the metal camera assembly housing.

  • Ensure the spudger is positioned between the cable and metal camera assembly housing, not touching the camera itself.
  • Pry the camera free using a gentle prying motion to release the adhesive holding it in place.
