Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Front Camera Replacement

This repair is for replacing the front camera in a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

A fully charged lithium-ion battery poses a potential safety risk.

  • Allow the battery to drain below 25% of its capacity.

If the battery is swollen, take necessary precautions.

Unplug all cables from your phone.

Press and hold both the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" to shut down the device.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Be cautious not to overheat the phone when using heat sources.

  • Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes using an iOpener or alternative tools (hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate).

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force.
  • This will create a gap between the cover and the frame.
  • If you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat and follow the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Slide the pick back and forth along the right edge to break the adhesive's seal.

  • Insert the pick into the bottom right corner and leave it there to keep the adhesive open.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat it for two minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert a second opening pick next to the first one, near the bottom of the right edge.

  • Rotate the opening pick around the bottom right corner to loosen the adhesive.

Insert an opening pick into the device and slide it along the bottom edge to break the adhesive seal.

  • Leave the pick inserted in the bottom left corner, near the hinge.
  • This will prevent the adhesive from resealing as you continue with disassembly.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the left adhesive

  • Insert a third opening pick alongside the second one, near the left side.
  • Rotate the new pick around the bottom left corner to loosen the adhesive.

Slide a opening pick along the left edge to separate the adhesive, stopping before the power button.

Do not insert the pick more than 4 mm to avoid damaging the antenna cable.

Leave the pick inserted near the power button to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Heat a iOpener and apply it to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the gap at the top of the right edge.

  • Rotate the opening pick around the top right corner to loosen the adhesive.

Step 13

Insert a pick into the gap between the screen and the frame.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge to separate the adhesive.
  • Avoid inserting the pick more than 4 mm to prevent damage to the sensor or camera near the top edge.

Step 14 | Separate the remaining adhesive

Slide the pick around the top left corner and down the left edge, separating the remaining adhesive.

Avoid inserting the pick more than 4 mm to prevent damage to the cameras.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Grab and remove the back cover.

Adhesive residue may reattach during disassembly; use an opening pick to separate if necessary.

  • Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing it up.
  • Make sure to power down your phone completely before continuing.

Remove any remaining adhesive chunks with tweezers or fingers, applying heat as needed if necessary.

  • If using custom-cut adhesives, follow the provided guide.
  • If using double-sided tape, follow the provided guide.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.

  • Locate the arrow on the board near each press connector; this indicates the recommended prying location.
  • Pry only in this location for each press connector to avoid damaging surface-mounted components.

Do not force the press connector into place.

  • To reconnect, align the press connector carefully over its socket and press down gently with your fingertip on one side, then the other until it clicks into place.
  • If having trouble, reposition the connector and try again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

Remove the Phillips screwdriver and extract the ten 3.5 mm-long screws holding the wireless charging coil and the loudspeaker in place.

  • Four screws secure the wireless charging coil.
  • Six screws secure the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Separate the coil adhesive

Use a spudger to carefully lift one corner of the wireless charging coil tab, which is attached to the right side of the phone case.

Insert an opening pick into the gap between the tab and the frame.

  • Gently pry apart the tab and the frame by working the pick back and forth.
  • The tab should now be loose, allowing you to remove it completely.

Step 20 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Locate the arrow engraving on the loudspeaker.

  • Insert the point of a spudger into the gap indicated by the arrow.
  • Pry up to unclip the loudspeaker from its frame.

Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the frame.

  • During reassembly, press around the edges of the loudspeaker to clip it to the frame before reinserting the screws.

Step 22 | Disconnect the battery

Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry up the battery press connector and disconnect it.

Step 23 | Disconnect the earpiece speaker

Disconnect the earpiece speaker press connector using a spudger.

Step 24 | Remove the earpiece speaker screws

Remove the earpiece speaker using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are five screws, each 3.5mm long, to be removed.
  • Screw type is Phillips head.

Step 25 | Remove the earpiece speaker

Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the bottom edge of the earpiece speaker, following the engraved arrow.

  • Pry up with the spudger to unclip the speaker and remove it.
  • During reassembly, place the top edge of the earpiece speaker into the frame first before pressing down and clipping it back in.

Step 26 | Disconnect the front camera

Remove the front camera press connector using a spudger.

Step 27 | Heat the front camera adhesive

  • Flip the phone over with screen facing up.
  • Be cautious not to overheat the phone - display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage when using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.

    • Use an iOpener on the top edge of the screen for two minutes to loosen front camera adhesive, or apply heat using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.
  • Flip the phone back over so back of front camera is accessible.

Step 28 | Pry up the front camera

Adhesive on camera is very strong; work slowly and apply more heat if necessary.

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the front camera from its recess in the frame.
  • If camera doesn't loosen, use a SIM eject tool to scrape away epoxy surrounding the camera.

Step 29 | Remove the front camera

Remove the front camera by lifting it out of its socket.
