Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Back Cover Replacement

This repair guide is for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra only. Failure to follow proper steps may result in damage to the device.

  • Remove the screws holding the back cover in place using a T5 Torx driver.
  • Gently pry the back cover away from the phone's body, taking care not to damage any surrounding components.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Do not charge a lithium-ion battery below 25% as it may pose a safety hazard.

  • Verify if the battery is swollen and take necessary precautions.
  • Disconnect all cables from the phone.

Press and hold the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" to shut down the device.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Be cautious not to overheat the phone, as the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate if an iOpener is not available.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle near the center of the right edge of the back cover.

Use strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame; if needed, apply more heat to soften adhesive further.

Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Insert a pick along the right edge, sliding it back and forth to separate the adhesive.

  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom right corner to keep the adhesive separated.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Heat the iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert a second opening pick near the bottom of the right edge.

  • Rotate the new pick around the bottom right corner to continue separating the adhesive.

Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge of the device.

Leave the pick in place, especially near the bottom left corner, to prevent the adhesive from reforming.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Apply a iOpener preheated according to the manufacturer's instructions to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the left adhesive

  • Insert a third opening pick beside the second one, close to the left side of the bottom edge.
  • Rotate this new pick around the bottom left corner to loosen the adhesive.

Avoid damaging the antenna cable — do not insert the pick more than 4 mm.

  • Slide your opening pick along the left edge to separate the adhesive, stopping before you reach the power button.
  • Leave the pick inserted near the power button to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Apply a iOpener to the top edge of the back cover and heat it for two minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert an opening pick into the gap at the top right edge.

  • Rotate the opening pick around the top right corner.
  • The goal is to separate the adhesive.

Avoid inserting the pick more than 4 mm, as it may damage nearby components.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge to break apart the adhesive.

Step 14 | Separate the remaining adhesive

Insert a pick into the top left corner of the device, sliding it downward along the left edge to loosen any remaining adhesive.

Avoid inserting the pick more than 4 mm to prevent damage to the cameras.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Grab and remove the back cover.

If still attached, use an opening pick to separate adhesive around the edges.

  • Power on phone and test all functions during reassembly.
  • Ensure phone is completely powered down before proceeding.

Remove any remaining adhesive chunks with tweezers or fingers. If needed, apply heat for separation.
