This guide is for replacing the screen and battery assembly, but can be used for either a partial replacement of just the battery or just the screen.
A fully charged lithium-ion battery poses a safety risk.
Disconnect all cables from your device.
Apply iOpener to right edge of back cover for 2 minutes.
Avoid overheating the phone to prevent damage to display and internal battery.
Apply a suction handle near the center of the right edge.
Slide a pick back and forth along the right edge to separate the adhesive.
Leave the pick inserted near the bottom right corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing, as it can reattach otherwise.
Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Prevent re-adhesion by leaving the opening pick in the bottom left corner.
Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.
Position the opening pick at the lower left corner and rotate it gently.
Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Apply heat from an iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Leave the pick near the top right corner to prevent re-adhesion.
Remove the back cover by hand.
Use an opening pick to gently pry off any reattached adhesive if the back cover does not lift easily.
Reapplying back cover adhesive correctly is crucial for water resistance. However, your device will lose its IP rating regardless of reapplication quality.
Custom-cut adhesives require special procedures outlined in this guide. Consult it for further instructions if necessary.
Locate the wireless charging coil press connector on the motherboard.
When reconnecting, align the connector carefully and press down with your fingertip-first on one side, then the other-until it clicks into place. Do not force the connector into place, as this may cause damage. If you experience difficulty, reposition the connector and try again.
Remove six Phillips screws, each 3.5mm long, securing the wireless charging coil.
Locate the loudspeaker's upper-left notch marked with an arrow.
Use your fingers to lift the loudspeaker away from the frame.
Press around the edges of the loudspeaker to clip it into place before reinserting the screws.
Disconnect the battery press connector using a spudger.
Disconnect both interconnect cable press connectors from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Remove the interconnect cables by pulling them out of the phone.
Disconnect the earpiece speaker press connector using a spudger.
Remove the earpiece speaker using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the tip of a spudger into the top left corner of the upper antenna press connector.
Avoid inserting the spudger elsewhere to prevent damaging surface-mounted components.
Insert the tip of a spudger under the bottom right corner of the front camera press connector.
Avoid damaging surface-mounted components by not inserting the spudger anywhere else.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up the display and lower antenna cable press connectors from the motherboard.
Remove the two motherboard screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the flat end of a spudger between the top edge of the motherboard and the phone frame, in the earpiece speaker cutout.
During reassembly, ensure all cables are cleared from the installation area before placing the motherboard back into position.
Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole on the bottom edge of the phone.
If you accidentally inserted the SIM eject tool into a microphone hole, you most likely didn't damage the microphone.
Remove the daughterboard screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Use a spudger to pry up the top right corner of the daughterboard.
Reinsert the USB-C port into its recess at an angle before pressing the daughterboard flat onto the frame.
Be careful not to damage the camera lens.
Avoid damaging the camera sensor or lens.
Insert a spudger point into the notch between the upper antenna and the frame.
When reassembling, be aware that you may need to transfer conductive tape under the new part's antenna.
Disengage the display cable press connector using the flat end of a spudger.
Remove the bottom antenna by using a Phillips screwdriver to take out its two 2.5 mm-long screws.
Insert one arm of angled tweezers or a SIM eject tool into the bottom screw hole on the lower antenna bracket.
Be careful not to damage the surrounding components.
Remove the bottom antenna from its recess.
Compare the new screen and battery assembly to the old one.
