A fully charged lithium-ion battery may pose a safety risk.

Allow the phone's battery to drain below 25% before repair.

  • Unplug any cables from the phone.

If the battery is swollen, exercise caution when handling it.

  • Press and hold both the side key and volume down button.
  • Select "Power off" to completely shut down the phone.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Step 2 image

Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but avoid overheating the phone.

Risk of display and battery damage if not careful with heat application.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and the frame.
  • If a gap is difficult to achieve, apply more heat following the iOpener instructions to prevent overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Step 4 image

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 5 image

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 6 image

Thumbnail 2

Remove the back cover.

Use an opening pick to separate any resealed adhesive if the back cover doesn't lift easily.

  • Power on your phone and test all functions before reassembly.
  • Ensure your phone is powered down completely before continuing work.

Retaining water resistance depends on proper adhesive reapplication; the device will lose its IP rating.

  • Remove adhesive from both the back cover and the phone using tweezers or fingers.
  • Apply heat, isopropyl alcohol (90%+), and a coffee filter or lint-free cloth to aid in adhesive removal if necessary.

Follow this guide for custom-cut adhesives.
