Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Motherboard Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the motherboard in a Samsung Galaxy S24+ device.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

A charged lithium-ion battery can be a safety hazard, drain it below 25% if possible.

  • Remove any cables from the phone.
  • Press and hold the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" to shut down your device.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover using an iOpener for two minutes.

Avoid overheating the phone, as the display and internal battery can be damaged.

  • If preferred, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover, centered on the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • If trouble persists, apply more heat as needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Slide the pick back and forth along the right edge of the device to release the adhesive.

  • Insert the pick into the bottom right corner, leaving it in place to keep the adhesive separated.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the bottom right corner and rotate it to loosen the adhesive.

  • The goal is to create a small gap between the display and its frame.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive

  • Place a second pick at the bottom right corner.
  • Move the first pick to the bottom left corner and slide it along the edge to loosen the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Apply heat to the iOpener and attach it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Hold the opening pick vertically at the bottom left corner of the device and rotate it slowly.

  • Continue rotating until you see a gap between the screen and the casing.

Step 10 | Separate the left adhesive

  • Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
  • Slide the pick toward the top left corner to begin separating the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Apply heat from an iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the corner adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the top left corner and rotate it to loosen the adhesive.

Step 13 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert a fourth opening pick into the top left corner.

  • Slide the pick towards the top right corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 14 | Separate the rear mic adhesive

Locate a square of adhesive surrounding the rear microphone, situated just above the flash.

  • Position the tip of an opening pick directly over the flash.
  • Carefully slide the pick under the top edge of the back cover until it begins to catch on the adhesive.
  • Gently pry the cover downwards while sliding the pick towards the bottom, working the adhesive loose.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover by hand.

  • If it's stuck, use an opening pick to gently pry away any resealed adhesive.
  • During reassembly: power on your phone and test all functions before closing up.
  • Prior to continuing, ensure your phone is completely powered down.

Retaining water resistance will depend on proper back cover adhesive reapplication. Note that your device's IP rating will be lost in the process.

  • Remove all remaining adhesive from both the back cover and phone using tweezers, fingers, or heat (with a coffee filter or lint-free cloth).
  • For stubborn adhesives: apply isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater).

If using custom-cut adhesives, follow the provided guide.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Locate the wireless charging coil press connector on the motherboard.

Be careful not to damage the motherboard or wireless charging coil.

  • Pry up the press connector using a spudger, following the direction indicated by the arrow on the board.
  • To reconnect, align the connector carefully over its socket and press down gently with your fingertip-first on one side, then the other-until it clicks into place.
  • If the connector does not click into place easily, reposition it and try again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

Remove the thirteen Phillips screws, six securing the wireless charging coil and seven securing the loudspeaker.

  • Six of these screws are for the wireless charging coil.
  • The remaining seven screws secure the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Position the spudger in the notch marked by an arrow on the top left corner of the loudspeaker.

  • Pry upwards to release the loudspeaker from its frame.

  • Lift the loudspeaker away from the using your fingers.
  • Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the .
  • During reassembly, press around the edges of the loudspeaker to secure it before reinserting the screws.

Step 20 | Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the battery press connector using a spudger.

  • Disconnect both interconnect cable press connectors from the daughterboard using a spudger.

Disconnect both interconnect cable press connectors using a spudger.

  • Pry up the first connector.
  • Release the second connector by prying it up.

Step 23 | Remove the interconnect cables

Remove the interconnect cables by gently grabbing them and pulling them out.

Step 24 | Disconnect the earpiece speaker

Use a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the earpiece speaker press connector.

Step 25 | Remove the earpiece speaker screws

Remove the earpiece speaker with a Phillips screwdriver. The screws are 5 in total, each 3.5mm long.

  • Insert a spudger between the earpiece speaker and motherboard plate.
  • Twist to unclip the earpiece speaker, then remove it.
  • Be careful not to damage the earpiece speaker or frame during removal.

    • During reassembly: insert top edge of earpiece speaker into frame first.
    • Press down firmly to clip back in place.

Step 27 | Disconnect the upper antenna

Avoid inserting the spudger in other areas to prevent damage to surface-mounted components.

  • Position the tip of a spudger under the top left corner of the upper antenna press connector.
  • Pry up and disconnect the upper antenna press connector from the motherboard.

Step 28 | Disconnect the front camera

Insert the tip of a spudger into the bottom right corner of the front camera press connector.

  • Pry up carefully to avoid damaging surface-mounted components.
  • The front camera press connector should now be disconnected from the motherboard.

Step 29 | Disconnect the display and lower antenna

Disconnect the display and lower antenna cable press connectors from the motherboard using a spudger.

Step 30 | Remove the motherboard screws

Remove the motherboard screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • The screws are 3.5 mm long.
  • There are two screws to remove.

Step 31 | Remove the motherboard

Insert the flat end of a spudger between the top edge of the motherboard and the phone frame, in the earpiece speaker cutout.

  • Pry against the frame to lift the motherboard out of its slot.
  • Remove the motherboard.

Cable damage risk during reassembly. Ensure cables are clear before placing motherboard back into the frame.

Step 32 | Remove the ultrawide camera

Remove the ultrawide, then main, and finally telephoto rear cameras in that order.

  • Flip over the motherboard to expose the rear camera press connectors.
  • Use a spudger to disconnect the ultrawide camera press connector.

Take note: The ultrawide camera is positioned at the top when installed.

Slide the ultrawide camera out by releasing the two metal pegs from their holes on the motherboard.

  • Gently pull the pegs away from the motherboard.

Step 34 | Remove the main camera

Locate the main camera situated in the center of the device.

  • Pry up the main camera press connector using a spudger.
  • Lift the main camera off the motherboard and remove it.

Step 35 | Remove the telephoto camera

Careful not to damage the motherboard or cables.

  • Use a spudger to lift and disconnect the telephoto camera press connector.
  • Lift the telephoto camera (located at the bottom) off the motherboard.

Failure to install cameras in correct order may result in improper alignment.

  • During reassembly, install rear cameras in this order: Telephoto, Main, and then Ultrawide.

Step 36 | Only the motherboard remains

The motherboard is ready to be replaced.
