Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Front Camera Replacement

Replace the front camera on your Samsung Galaxy S24+ using this guide.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Charged lithium-ion batteries can be a safety hazard.

  • Allow battery level to drop below 25% before disassembling.
  • If battery is swollen, exercise caution when handling.

Disconnect all cables from the phone.

  • Hold side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" to shut down device.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover using an iOpener for 2 minutes.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat the phone.
  • Note: The display and internal battery are vulnerable to heat damage.

Be careful not to apply excessive heat, as this can cause permanent damage.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and the frame.
  • If needed, apply more heat following the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Insert a pick into the bottom right corner, sliding it back and forth along the right edge to break down the adhesive.

  • Leave the pick in place near the bottom right corner to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat for 2 minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Hold the opening pick steady and rotate it towards the bottom right corner of the device.

  • Gently pry the adhesive away from the surrounding area.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert a second pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the bottom left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Heating the adhesive can cause it to break down, potentially making removal more difficult.

  • Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the back cover
  • Heat for two minutes before proceeding with removal

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Start by rotating the opening pick at the bottom left corner to loosen the adhesive.

  • Continue to pry the device open with gentle pressure.

Step 10 | Separate the left adhesive

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the pick toward the top left corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Heat an iOpener and apply it to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the corner adhesive

Insert an opening pick at the top left corner and rotate it gently.

Be cautious not to apply excessive force, which may damage the device.

Step 13 | Separate the top adhesive

Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner.

  • Slide the pick toward the top right corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 14 | Separate the rear mic adhesive

Locate the square of adhesive above the flash.

  • Position the tip of an opening pick against the flash.
  • Slide the pick under the top edge of the back cover, working towards the bottom.
  • Continue sliding and gently lifting until the cover is free.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

  • If it doesn't lift easily, use an opening pick to separate any resealed adhesive.

Power on your phone and test all functions during reassembly, but be sure to power it down completely before continuing.

  • Remove all remaining adhesive from the back cover and the phone using tweezers or your fingers.
  • If necessary, use heat or isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) with a coffee filter or lint-free cloth to aid in removal.

Note: Reapplying the back cover adhesive affects water resistance and your device's IP rating.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use a spudger to pry up the wireless charging coil press connector from the motherboard.

  • Locate the arrow printed near each press connector for the recommended prying location.
  • To reconnect, align the press connector over its socket and press down gently with your fingertip-first on one side, then the other until it clicks into place.
  • Do not force the connector into place.

    If necessary, reposition it and try again.

Step 17 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker screws

  • Remove the 6 Phillips screws holding the wireless charging coil.
  • Next, remove the 7 Phillips screws securing the loudspeaker.

Step 18 | Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker

Locate the notch at the top left corner of the loudspeaker, marked with an arrow.

  • Pierce the notch using a pointed spudger.
  • Gently pry up to release the loudspeaker from its frame.

  • Use your fingers to lift the loudspeaker away from the frame.
  • Remove the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker from the frame.
  • During reassembly, press around the edges of the loudspeaker to clip it to the frame before replacing the screws.

Step 20 | Disconnect the battery

Remove the battery press connector with a spudger.

Step 21 | Disconnect the earpiece speaker

Insert a spudger under the earpiece speaker press connector and gently pry it up.

Make sure not to damage the surrounding components during this process.

Step 22 | Remove the earpiece speaker screws

Remove the earpiece speaker using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are five screws, each 3.5 mm long, securing the earpiece speaker.
  • Remove all of these screws to access the earpiece speaker.

Insert the flat end of a spudger between the bottom edge of the earpiece speaker and the metal plate on the motherboard.

  • Twist the spudger to unclip the earpiece speaker from the frame, then remove it.
  • During reassembly, insert the top edge of the earpiece speaker into the frame first, then press down and clip it back in place.

Step 24 | Disconnect the front camera

Disconnect the front camera press connector with a spudger.

Step 25 | Soften the front camera adhesive

Apply heat from a hair dryer or heat gun to the front camera for several minutes, until it becomes hot to the touch.

Step 26 | Remove the front camera

Adhesive securing the camera is very strong; apply more heat if the camera feels stuck.

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the front camera from its recess in the frame.
  • If necessary, use a SIM card eject tool to scrape away the adhesive surrounding the camera.

Use a spudger to pry the front camera out of its recess.

  • Grip the front camera firmly with your fingers once it's been loosened.
  • Remove the front camera.
