Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus Back Cover Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the rear cover of a Samsung Galaxy S24+. Follow the steps below to complete the replacement.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Do not use a charged lithium-ion battery as it poses a potential safety hazard.

  • Allow the battery to drain below 25% or check if it is swollen.
  • Disconnect all cables from your phone.
  • Press and hold the side key and volume down button, then select "Power off" on your phone's screen.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Do not apply excessive heat, which can cause damage to the display and internal battery.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the back cover for two minutes.
  • Alternately, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but maintain control to prevent overheating.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near its right edge center.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • If necessary, apply more heat according to iOpener instructions to avoid overheating

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Slide a pick back and forth along the right edge to separate the adhesive.

Do not remove the pick, as this will allow the adhesive to reseal.

Step 5 | Heat the bottom edge

Apply a iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover and heat it for two minutes.

Step 6 | Separate the corner adhesive

Rotate the opening pick around the bottom right corner to break up the adhesive.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Insert a second pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick to the bottom left corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the bottom left corner.

Do not remove the pick that is holding the adhesive from resealing.

Step 8 | Heat the left edge

Heat the iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Position the opening pick near the bottom left corner and gently rotate it to loosen the adhesive.

Step 10 | Separate the left adhesive

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the pick towards the top left corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Heat the top edge

Apply a iOpener to the top edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 12 | Separate the corner adhesive

Hold the opening pick at an angle and rotate it slowly around the top left corner of the device.

  • The goal is to pry the adhesive away from the surrounding area, taking care not to scratch any surfaces.
  • If necessary, use a gentle twisting motion to loosen the adhesive.

Step 13 | Separate the top adhesive

  • Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner.
  • Slide it towards the top right corner to separate the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top right corner in place.

Step 14 | Separate the rear mic adhesive

Locate the square of adhesive above the flash, near the rear microphone.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap next to the flash, ensuring it's aligned with the surrounding area.
  • Squeeze the pick under the top edge of the back cover until you feel resistance from the adhesive.
  • Gently pry the cover downward while continuing to apply pressure to the pick, allowing the cover to detach from the adhesive.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover by hand.

If stuck, use an opening pick to gently separate any reformed adhesive.

  • Power on your device and test all functions before closing.
  • Ensure the phone is completely powered down before continuing.
  • Use tweezers or fingers to remove all adhesive from the back cover and phone.
  • If necessary, use heat, isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater), and a coffee filter or lint-free cloth.
