The battery must be completely discharged before disassembly to prevent a thermal event.
Swollen batteries require special precautions. Note: Water resistance may be compromised after repair.
A charged lithium-ion battery can be a safety hazard.
If the battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.
Be cautious not to overheat the phone, as the display and internal battery can be damaged.
Apply a suction handle as close to the center of the right edge as possible.
Insert a pick into the bottom right corner, then slide it back and forth along the right edge to separate the adhesive.
Apply iOpener to the bottom edge of the back cover for 2 minutes, allowing it to heat evenly.
Insert a second opening pick into the bottom right corner.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Position the opening pick at the bottom left corner and rotate it.
Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing.
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the top edge of the back cover for two minutes.
Insert an opening pick into the top right corner.
Avoid pushing against the rear cameras to prevent lens damage.
Remove the back cover.
Remove adhesive chunks with tweezers or fingers. Apply heat and isopropyl alcohol (90% or greater) if necessary.
Bending or damaging the pins can cause permanent harm.
Do not press in the middle or misalign the connector, as this can bend the pins.
Remove the Phillips screwdriver. Use it to take out:
Locate the notch at the top left corner of the loudspeaker.
Press around the perimeter of the loudspeaker during reassembly to secure it in place.
Use the tip of a plastic spudger to carefully pry up and release the battery press connector.
Insert the tip of a spudger into the earpiece speaker press connector.
Insert the flat end of your spudger between the bottom edge of the earpiece speaker and the silver shield on the motherboard.
Do not insert your spudger anywhere else to avoid dislodging fragile surface-mounted components.
Disconnect the interconnect cable press connectors from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Disconnect and remove both interconnect cables.
Remove the daughterboard screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up the top right corner of the daughterboard.
Reinsert the USB-C port into its recess at an angle to avoid damage during reassembly.
Risk of damaging nearby components: avoid prying on unnecessary edges.
Use your spudger to gently pry up and release the display and 5G mmWave cable press connectors.
Use a spudger to carefully release the front camera press connector.
Remove the motherboard mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
Twist the spudger carefully to lift the motherboard up and out of the frame until you can grip it with your fingers.
Insert the tip of the spudger into the notch between the top 5G mmWave antenna and the frame.
Separate the top 5G mmWave antenna from its frame using your fingers.
Note: When reassembling, you may need to transfer the conductive tape under the antenna to your new part.
Avoid excessive force when removing the camera — risk of damage.
Use a spudger's flat end to gently pry the front camera out of its recess.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully release the display cable press connector at the back of the screen.
Remove the 2.5 mm long Phillips screws from the 5G mmWave antenna.
Insert one angled tweezers arm into the screw hole on the bottom 5G mmWave antenna bracket.
Separate the bottom 5G mmWave antenna by lifting it out of its recess.
Compare your new screen and battery assembly to the original to ensure accuracy.
