Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus Screen Replacement

This guide is for replacing the screen in a Samsung Galaxy S23+ on its own or with a pre-installed screen frame. Be aware that this process will damage the original screen.

  • The replacement part should be a screen, not a harvested one.

Note: Re-applying adhesive correctly is crucial to maintain water resistance and IP rating.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Allow the battery level to fall below 25% for safety.

  • Take precautions if the battery is swollen.

Unplug all cables from the phone.

  • Hold the side key and the volume down button simultaneously.
  • Select "Power off" to turn off the phone completely.

Step 2 | Heat the right edge

Excessive heat can cause damage to the display and internal battery.

  • Apply heat to the right edge of the back cover using an iOpener for two minutes, or a suitable alternative such as a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the back cover near its right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.
  • If necessary, apply more heat using an iOpener to soften adhesive further.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Separate the right adhesive

Step 4 image

Step 8 image

Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the back cover and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 9 | Separate the corner adhesive

Step 9 image

Insert third opening pick at bottom left corner.

  • Slide pick toward top left corner to separate adhesive.
  • Leave pick in place to prevent adhesive from resealing.

Risk of damage to rear cameras: avoid touching them with the opening pick.

  • Position the tip of an opening pick at the flash cutout.
  • Slide the pick under the top edge of the back cover, working it down toward the bottom.
  • The adhesive should separate completely from the back cover as you continue to slide the pick.

Remove the back cover.

  • If still attached, slide an opening pick around the perimeter to separate it from the frame.

Power on your phone and test functions before reassembling. Power down completely before continuing.

Remove any adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or fingers.

  • If needed, apply heat and 90% isopropyl alcohol.
  • Follow the appropriate guide for custom-cut adhesives or double-sided tape.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Gloves and safety glasses are recommended for protection against flying glass shards.

  • Use a iFlex or similar tool to create an initial gap between the front glass and frame.
  • iFlex tools have sharp edges; handle them by the flat part only, not the edge.

Step 25 | Heat the screen

Step 25 image

Do not overheat the phone, as the battery may be damaged by excessive heat.

  • Apply a hair dryer or heat gun to the top edge of the screen until it's near the point of being uncomfortable to touch.

Step 26 | Insert an iFlex

Step 26 image

Apply a suction handle to the center of the screen's top edge, as close as possible.

  • Insert the iFlex at a downward angle into the earpiece speaker gap between the top edge of the front glass and frame.
  • Lift the suction handle with strong, steady force and lower the iFlex to slide under the front glass. Some separation may occur, which is normal.

Do not insert the iFlex too far, as this may damage the front-facing camera.
