Do not start repair with a charged battery — risk of fire if damaged.

  • Allow phone's battery to drain below 25% before starting repair.

Apply heat to the bottom edge of the back cover for two minutes:

  • iOpener at high temperature.
  • Or, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat phone.
  • Avoid direct heat on the display and internal battery, as they are susceptible to damage.

  • Continue prying until the cover completely separates from the frame.

Power on your phone and test all functions before reassembling. Make sure to power down your phone completely before continuing work.

  • Remove any remaining adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or your fingers.
  • If needed, apply heat to aid in separating the adhesive.

Follow this guide for applying new adhesive.
