This guide is intended for replacing the battery only. If you need to replace the entire OEM screen and battery assembly, follow a different guide.
A lithium-ion battery must drain below 25% before starting this repair.
Identify the adhesive securing the back cover along the perimeter of the frame.
Apply a suction handle near the bottom edge of the back cover.
Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
Heat a iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Do not insert more than 5 mm of the pick, as it may damage the antenna flex cable or the power button cable.
Heat an iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Insert a third opening pick at the bottom right corner.
Apply heat from an iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Only insert the pick up to 4 mm to avoid damaging rear cameras or flash.
Grab and remove the back cover.
Make sure to power down your phone completely before proceeding.
Use a spudger to pry up the wireless charging coil from the motherboard.
Misaligned connectors can cause permanent damage to the pins.
Remove the wireless charging coil's six 3.5 mm-long screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the loudspeaker's 7 3.5mm screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
Separate parts at the frame, do not disconnect internal components.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger into the battery press connector and gently pry it loose.
Hold the spudger with the pointed tip facing the interconnect cables on the motherboard.
Use the pointed end of your spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect both interconnect cables from the charging board.
Remove the two interconnect cables from the frame.
Use the pointed end of your spudger to gently pry up and release the power and volume button press connector.
Locate the left 5G mmWave antenna press connector and use the pointed end of your spudger to carefully pry it loose.
Insert the pointed end of a spudger between the lower screw mount of the antenna bracket and the frame.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger into the space between the phone's frame and screen.
Disconnect the screen cable.
Remove the strong adhesive securing the battery to the .
Using too much alcohol can damage the display.
Do not puncture the battery, as this can cause a fire hazard or chemical leak.
Do not crease or bend the battery — risk of chemical leak or fire.
Remove the battery.
Wait 10 minutes if using isopropyl alcohol for cleaning.
