This guide is specifically for replacing the screen and battery assembly on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The part being replaced contains the screen, battery, and frame together in one unit. Ensure you have the correct replacement part before starting.
Retaining water resistance after this repair will depend on proper reapplication of adhesive, but your device's IP rating will be compromised.
Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole on the bottom edge of the phone.
If you accidentally inserted the SIM eject tool into a microphone hole, it's unlikely that damage was done to the microphone.
Push the stylus release button located at the base.
Never start this repair with a fully charged lithium-ion battery as it may catch fire if damaged.
Allow your phone's battery to drain below 25% before proceeding.
Be careful not to overheat the phone as the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.
Note that the adhesive securing the back cover is strongest at the bottom right and top left corners.
Apply a suction handle near the right edge of the back cover.
Insert the pick near the bottom of the right edge.
Heat the iOpener according to its instructions.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom right corner.
Work slowly and carefully while slicing around corners, as the glass is fragile here; risk of cracking the glass.
Insert the opening pick at the bottom left corner and slide it down to cut the adhesive.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.
Apply heat to the left iOpener target area for 2 minutes using a preheated iOpener.
Careful: the glass is fragile at the corners.
Insert the opening pick into the left edge, slicing the adhesive, but no more than 5mm deep to avoid damaging the antenna flex cable or power button cable.
Do not leave the pick in for too long as it may cause the adhesive to reseal.
Stop at the power button and leave the pick in place to hold the adhesive loose.
Apply heat from an iOpener to the top edge of the back cover for 2 minutes.
Risk of glass breakage when slicing corners.
Insert the pick into the device, but only 4mm deep to avoid damaging the cameras or sensors.
Insert opening pick up to 4mm to avoid damaging cameras.
Insert pick up to 4 mm only, to avoid damaging cameras.
Remove the back cover.
Power on your phone and test functions before closing up the device — make sure to turn it off again when done.
For custom-cut adhesives, refer to this guide.
For double-sided tape, refer to this guide.
Locate the wireless charging coil lightly adhered to the battery.
Slide the pick carefully along the right edge to separate the adhesive without applying excessive force.
Misaligned press connectors risk pin bending and damage.
Re-attaching: align carefully, press down on one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other side. Avoid middle pressing.
Remove the NFC antenna and charging coil using a Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the six 3.5 mm screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the pointed end of your spudger between the upper right corner of the loudspeaker and the .
During reassembly, press around the perimeter of the loudspeaker to clip it securely to the .
The wireless charging coil secures these parts together.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the battery press connector.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the lower 5G mmWave antenna press connector.
Insert the pointed end of your spudger between the lower screw mount of the antenna bracket and the frame.
Replace the lower 5G mmWave bracket with a new one, if available.
Mount the antenna in the new bracket's recess, with the connector fed underneath the longer screw mount.
Remove any remaining thin adhesive liners before installing the bracket in its frame.
Use the pointed end of your spudger to carefully release the upper 5G mmWave antenna press connector.
If stuck, apply a heated iOpener for two minutes to soften adhesive.
Replace the existing adhesive on the upper 5G mmWave antenna.
Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the primary interconnect cable and gently pry it loose.
Disconnect the interconnect cables from the frame.
Remove the charging board's three Phillips screws, each 3.5 mm long, using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the charging board, opposite the USB-C port.
Grasp the charging board securely by its corners.
During reassembly, ensure a downward angle when inserting the charging board to avoid damaging the USB-C port and its recess.
Remove the motherboard cover by unscrewing the three 3.5 mm long Phillips screws.
During reassembly, ensure clips secure to frame by pressing down on cover.
Insert the pointed tip of the spudger into the camera connector.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry up the fingerprint reader press connector for disconnection.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully pry up and release the screen press connector.
Insert the pointed tip of your spudger into the stylus' connector.
Remove the 3.5 mm screw that secures the motherboard using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert spudger between top-left corner of motherboard and frame.
Grasp the motherboard by its left edge.
During reassembly, position cables above the motherboard to prevent damage.
Remove the earpiece speaker and vibration motor using a Phillips screwdriver.
Locate the earpiece speaker and vibration motor at the device's bottom edge.
Excessive heat can cause permanent damage to your device's screen.
The adhesive holding the camera is extremely strong; work slowly and carefully.
Avoid pulling the circuit board away from the camera housing.
Work carefully when handling the camera's fragile cable.
The foam liner is not essential to the repair.
Apply new adhesives to the frame and camera:
Remove the blue adhesive liners from both the camera and the frame.
Insert the pointed tip of your spudger into the display cable's press connector and gently pry it loose.
Remove the display cable from its housing on the device's frame.
