Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus USB-C Port and Charging Board Replacement

Discharging the battery completely before disassembly reduces thermal event risk and should be done regardless of battery condition. If your battery is swollen, take necessary precautions.

  • Battery must be fully discharged to prevent potential damage during repair.
  • Note: Repairing the USB-C port and charging board may compromise water resistance (IP rating).

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole on the bottom edge of the phone.

  • Do not insert tool into microphone hole to avoid potential damage.

  • Press the SIM eject tool into the SIM card tray hole to eject the SIM card tray.

Remove the SIM card tray and proceed with repair.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Avoid charging your phone above 25% before starting this repair to prevent potential fire hazard.

  • Prepare an iOpener by applying it to the bottom edge of the back cover for three minutes to loosen the adhesive underneath.
  • If using a heat tool, carefully avoid overheating the phone to prevent damage to the display and internal battery.

Alternative heat tools include hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate. Apply them with caution.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover as close to the edge as possible.

If the back cover is cracked, it may not stick properly — use strong tape or superglue to secure instead.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the cover and frame.
  • If no gap forms, apply more heat and follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 3

Remove the suction handle.

  • Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to slice the adhesive.
  • If the adhesive becomes hard to cut, apply heat using your iOpener for 2-3 minutes.

Do not remove the opening pick, as this can cause the adhesive to reseal.

Step 5 | Heat the left edge

Step 5 image

Avoid overheating the iOpener — risk of bursting.

  • Apply the iOpener to the left edge of the phone for 3 minutes, softening the adhesive.
  • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for 30 seconds before proceeding.
  • The iOpener should remain warm for up to 10 minutes.

Step 6 | Slice the left adhesive

Step 6 image

Do not insert the opening pick more than 5 mm, or you risk damaging cables.

  • Insert a second opening pick into the gap near the bottom left corner.
  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick inserted near the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 7

Overheating the iOpener can cause it to burst.

  • Apply your heated iOpener to the right edge of the phone for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for 30 seconds.
  • A properly heated iOpener should stay warm for up to 10 minutes.

Avoid inserting the opening pick deeper than 5mm to prevent damage.

  • Slide the opening pick up along the right edge of the back cover, slicing the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick near the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Do not let the iOpener burst from overheating.

  • Apply heat to the top edge of the phone with your heated iOpener for 3 minutes.
  • Reheat as needed, but no more than 30 seconds at a time.
  • A properly warmed iOpener will stay warm for up to 10 minutes.
