Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Screen and Battery Assembly Replacement

Note that replacing the screen and battery assembly will compromise water resistance unless new adhesive is reapplied correctly.

  • Ensure you have the correct part before proceeding with this guide, which covers replacement of the combined screen, battery, and frame assembly for Samsung Galaxy S22+ models.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

Step 1 image

Thumbnail 3

Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole on the bottom edge of the phone.

  • Press the SIM eject tool into the SIM card tray hole to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.

If you accidentally inserted the SIM eject tool into a microphone hole, don't worry! You most likely didn't damage the microphone.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Drain your phone's battery below 25% before proceeding — a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover for three minutes to loosen the adhesive underneath.
  • An alternative is using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat your phone, as the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Step 3 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover as close to the edge as possible.

  • If the back cover is cracked, it may not stick. Use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle in place and allow it to dry.
  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the cover and the frame.

Apply more heat if necessary, but be careful not to overheat the adhesive as per iOpener instructions.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 4 | Slice the bottom adhesive

Step 4 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Remove the suction handle.

  • Slide an opening pick along the bottom edge to slice the adhesive.
  • If the adhesive hardens, it has likely cooled down. Reheat with your iOpener for two to three minutes.
  • Leave the opening pick inserted near the bottom left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 5 | Heat the left edge

Step 5 image

Never overheat the iOpener, as it may burst.

  • Apply the iOpener to the left edge of the phone for 3 minutes to loosen the adhesive.
  • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for an additional 30 seconds.
  • The iOpener should stay warm for up to 10 minutes when heated correctly.

Step 6 | Slice the left adhesive

Step 6 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert a second opening pick into the gap near the bottom left corner.

Do not insert more than 5 mm or you risk damaging cables near the camera module.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick inserted near the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 7

Step 7 image

Do not overheat the iOpener — risk of bursting.

  • Apply the iOpener to the right edge of the phone for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for an additional 30 seconds.
  • A heated iOpener should remain warm for up to 10 minutes.

Step 8

Thumbnail 2

Continue moving the opening pick along the right edge of the back cover, slicing through the adhesive.

  • Keep the pick within a 5 mm range to avoid damaging internal components.
  • Leave the pick near the top right corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Avoid overheating, which can cause the iOpener to burst.

  • Apply the heated iOpener to the top edge of the phone for 3 minutes to loosen adhesive.
  • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for 30 seconds.

A properly heated iOpener should stay warm for up to 10 minutes.

Step 11

Step 11 image
