Samsung Galaxy S22+ Battery Replacement

This repair guide is specifically for the battery of a Samsung Galaxy S22+.

  • If replacing the entire OEM screen and battery assembly, refer to a separate guide.

Step 1 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 1 image

Let your phone's battery drain below 25% before starting.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the bottom edge of the back cover for three minutes to loosen adhesive underneath.
  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate can also be used but use care to avoid overheating the phone. The display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover.

If the back cover is cracked, the suction handle may not stick — use strong tape or superglue as needed.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and frame.
  • Apply more heat if necessary to soften the adhesive further.

Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.
  • Step 3 | Slice the bottom adhesive

    Step 3 image

    Thumbnail 3

    Remove the suction handle.

    • Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge of the device to slice the adhesive.
    • If the adhesive becomes hard to cut, it may have cooled down.

      • Use your iOpener for two to three minutes to reheat the adhesive before resuming.

Leave the opening pick inserted near the bottom left corner of the device to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 4 | Heat the left edge

    Step 4 image

Overheating the iOpener can cause it to burst.

    • Apply the heated iOpener to the left edge of the phone for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.
    • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for an additional 30 seconds.
    • A properly heated iOpener will remain warm for up to 10 minutes.

Step 5 | Slice the left adhesive

    Step 5 image

    Thumbnail 2
    Thumbnail 3

Inserting the opening pick more than 5mm may damage cables near the camera.

    • Insert a second opening pick into the gap at the bottom left corner, leaving only about 5 mm exposed.
    • Slide the opening pick along the left edge to separate the adhesive.
    • Leave the opening pick inserted near the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

    Step 6

    Step 6 image

Do not overheat the iOpener — risk of bursting.

    • Apply the iOpener to the right edge of the phone for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.
    • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for an additional 30 seconds.
    • A properly heated iOpener will stay warm for up to 10 minutes.

    Step 7

    • Insert a third opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge.
    • Use it to slice the adhesive along the bottom right corner of the back cover.

    Step 8

    Step 8 image

    Thumbnail 2

Continue moving the opening pick along the right edge of the back cover, slicing through the adhesive.

    • Limit the insertion depth to 5 mm to avoid damaging internal components.
    • Leave the opening pick inserted near the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

    Step 9

    Step 9 image

Overheating may cause the iOpener to burst, posing a hazard.

    • Apply the heated iOpener to the top edge of the phone for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.
    • If necessary, reheat the iOpener for an additional 30 seconds.

The iOpener should stay warm for up to 10 minutes after heating.

Avoid inserting the pick over 5 mm, as it may damage the rear cameras and flash.

    • Slide the opening pick into the top left corner of the device's top edge.
    • Use a smooth motion to separate the remaining adhesive.

    Remove the back cover.

    • Power on your phone and test all functions before reassembly to ensure proper operation.

    • Power down your phone completely.

Remove any remaining adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or your fingers. If necessary, apply heat to assist separation.

    • If using custom-cut adhesives, consult the relevant guide for proper application.

    • If using double-sided tape, refer to its specific installation instructions.
